We did get estimates from other Masonry Companies. He (Robert) showed up and gave us the sales pitch twice. My husband and I thought he knew what he was talking about, so we agreed to hire him. He asked for part of the money up front to take care of purchasing some of the supplies. We agreed to $500 down and the rest ($1200) due upon completion. This was on 6/21/13. He stated he had another job he had to finish and then would be moving on to work on our house and it would be about a week. This was fine with us. After a week and a half I got in touch with him to ask when to expect him as I had to move several flowers out of his way. He stated he would be at our home the following Monday. He also had the audacity to ask for more money. I explained that he could have the full $1200 when the job was done. After all, he was the one that said the job should only take 4 days. We moved all the flowers and he never showed and he did not call to let us know he was not coming. This began the whole process of one excuse after another for the next month. I finally got forceful and stated that if the job was not going to get done, I would need my money back to go with someone else. More excuses is what I received. He did suddenly have time to come the very next day. He showed up about 2:00pm the next day - worked for two hours and left. After another week, I was able to finally reach him again to get more excuses. After getting angry and making threats to fire him, he stated that his trailer and workforce would be at my home the very next day. Well, the next day came and he brought his trailer, parked it in my driveway and left. No work was even done. I was finally able to reach him again 8-9-13 and told him I was done playing his game. I made one last attempt at getting at least my $500 worth. I let him know that if he would be at my house that day, work on it and have the job completely finished by Wednesday 8/14/13, he could keep the job and get the rest of his money. WELL.... he did not even show. I called and left a message on his phone (he of course was not answering my calls at this point) and told him to just come get his trailer and be done with me. This guy is a NIGHTMARE! Stay far away. He just goes around pitching jobs he has no intention of finishing.
