Tree trimming, tree removal, stump grinding, and all clean-up went very well indeed. Crew of three used regular and telescoping- handle chain saws from the ground and from a bucket truck, no climbing. It took only 20 minutes to bring down the blue spruce; they then spent two hours trimming the Norway maple. Both the owner (Mr. Nicky Plue) and the tree trimmer (his brother Chris) refused to "top" the tree, by which I meant shape from the outside and cut off the unwanted growth caused by the prior "topping" of the tree 10 years before. Only exception was to make sure the power/phone/cable lines on one edge were well clear. They were very careful maneuvering the bucket truck, placing plywood beneath the wheels to spread out the weight over the soft-ish ground. In cleaning up, besides removing and chipping all the trimmed branches, they raked most of the yard clear of bark and sawdust (and everything else there), blew off the driveway and street, and picked all that up, as well. They even allowed me to bring out for chipping some old branches I had stored in the side yard. The only issue I had dealt more with the weather than with Plue's Tree Service & Landscaping: having been advised that it's optimal to trim trees in winter, I had originally called in mid-February and arranged for the job, when the ground was still frozen, though a bit snowy. It took until mid-March for the job to actually get done, by which time we had had a couple of thaws. Can't blame them for not wanting to trim trees in 10-degree weather or 30-mile-per-hour winds, but what good is advice about timing if it can't reasonably be followed? I would definitely call Plue's again for all my tree-related needs!
