TUFF SHED INC - Chicago

We built a new 23 x 18 she shed for my wife, I met Tom Lichon (630-370-3798) at the Lake County Fairgrounds in the spring and just loved his energy and attention to detail, Tom did everything from the start to the end. He clearly communicated and scheduled the work to be done on our shed. The workmanship on both our cement foundation and the building structure was very good and I would highly recommend my installation crew. The sales process was fine. Mike Vassely in sales came to our house to measure the area and consult with us on the type and placement of the shed. We wanted to paint the shed a custom paint, to match our house, and he even came over and picked up the custom paint so it could be painted in their factory prior to install. We supplied the paint and paid them to paint our shed. Here is where everything went downhill, and I why I'm giving Tuff Shed an "F" for customer service.... They painted the shed a single coat in their warehouse, and is customary, started to paint the second coat onsite. However, they started painting the second coat in a different color which was so blatantly different from our custom color – but they didn’t catch that it was the wrong color until one side was already half-painted! Unfortunately, they left our original paint back at the factory and couldn't correct the issue that day, so they went forward with the install of our shed of our half-painted shed. They promised they would come back that same week with our custom paint to correct it. But, numerous phone calls to their Franklin Park customer service center as well as to Curt, their general manager, went unanswered. I'm so displeased with the lack of after-care customer service. All they care about is getting these sheds installed and nothing else... forget about after-care. I still have a half-painted shed and no resolution to have this resolved three months later.

Pieces of frame came broken and installers had to return to Des Plaines for replacement wood. Purchased at Home Depot (as a Tuff Shed authorized dealer) and unit pictured had a window but no window came with it. There are holes in the wood, the paint has already chipped off and the nails that are supposed to be in the frame are sticking through the walls and roof allowing moisture to leak in to the shed. Not at all impressed with this shed. I still have not received credit for the window I paid for in November that was to be installed in December. Never received any communication regarding installation so requested credit. Two months later, no credit.

It went very well. I stopped by their main office and picked out exactly what we wanted. They set up a date for delivery and took about 1/2 a day to construct it for us. It turned out perfect and very professional. These sheds are a bit more expensive then what you normally see in a home depot type store but seeing the quality and construction there is just no comparison. You get what you pay for.
would definitely go with them again in the future.

various rv lots, and they have all been disappointing, especially in the area of the doors, which warped quickly and allowed infiltration by insects and animals. The construction quality of this shed promises to avoid those problems. The construction cew headed by Marco was oustanding, and I will ask for them again when I have a shed installed at my home residence.

Over all they did a great job and i would use them again in the future.

Although the actual construction was done in a day, because of village code inspection requirements the concrete anchors were not poured until a week later. The two installers were proficient, professional and thorough. The contract stated final payment was due upon delivery (which I luckily scratched out). This meant that Tuff Shed wanted their full final payment a week before the job was completed. There was a bit of argument with the sales rep but I refused to pay until the final concrete passed inspection. As with any construction project, I was glad I could monitor the entire process, the hardest being the building code permit. On the day of the install, I ended up calling the Building Dept 3 or 4 times, making several calls to the Tuff Shed warehouse supervisor and the sales rep, a lot of vigilence for a 10x12 storage shed.

Pretty well. The sales and design part was excellent - very professional. Had a few issue with scheduling the installation for which they were responsive. Punch list items from initial installation were addressed. Overall - we really like the new shed.

After down payment, work was scheduled quickly. We watched the construction of the shed and were impressed with the workmanship. After it was finished, the workers told us to call the company in the spring (the construction took place in the fall) to schedule a paint touch-up. This was the only hiccup we ran into-we had to make several calls to get someone to call us back. However, once they came out, they did more than a touch-up-they painted the whole shed!

Overall this was the longest, drawn out project ever. They came in August and finished the job at the end of September. The first installer was not able to finish the first day because of rain, left informing us they would be back next week. Next week arrived and no shed installers, called our salesman and he got them out there to complete. The 2nd installers showed up very very late in day and were not able to compete the work. He informed us that someone would be out the next week. The next week went by, called into Tuff Shed, they referred me to 'Warranty Department' because that department was responsible for finishing the job. Spoke with 'Warranty' and they said if no one showed up in a week or two to call back. Did this several times, finally in frustration we took pictures and dropped them off for our salesman. He again had to pick up slack for installers, got the 1st set of problems fixed, but those installers created more. Took another week for the project to be finished.
