The Chimney Sweeps

When they made the appointment they told my wife even gas fireplaces get creosote and can suffer from chimney fires (creasote comes from burning wood).  They wanted to sell us new gas logs, told my wife the old ones were broker, tuckpointing for deteriorating brick and even offered to trim my trees.  When i called the owner Scott to get more information on them, he first told me his company was a corporation, then said it was an LLC.  No such company registered with the Secretary of State.   After looking at other sweeps, decided to cancel further services with this company.

Not well at all - really wish I had just not bothered getting the fireplace cleaned.

It's a cheap little chimney cap.  The woman who answered the phone led me to believe that he would bring out samples for me to check what I wanted.  He didn’t do that.  That shocked me.  I was uncomfortable with his abrasiveness and attitude.  He was punctual, but he was not professional.  I wasn't happy with The Chimney Sweeps at all.

This company called me on the phone to solicit my business. I asked them if they were an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau and they said yes. This is not true--they are not a member of the BBB. The showed up to do the work and were in my house for 15 minutes--they claimed to have cleaned and inspected my chimney, fireplace, and dryer vent in that time. After speaking to other chimney sweep companies--it is typically a 1-2 hour job. They didn't actually do the work they promised and completely lack integrity. When I called to complain, the person who answered the phone clearly didn't care and offered no resolution.

I got a call from a telemarketer to offer services. The owner called back and set up an appointment for the following Monday. I have four fireplaces in my house, two are brand new. I only needed the one cleaned and inspected. He sold me on having the second gas fireplace restored as it was very dirty from a construction process. His assistent cleaned all three chimneys, but no inspection was done. He has no expertise beyond cleaning and clearing out obstructions. This has not been my experience with other sweeps in the past. There is no name associated with any of their materials. Buyer beware!
