 + -1 moreTwo men came out, but unfortunately I can't recall their names. The younger gentleman took the lead and did most of the work. He was fully familiar with this type of backflow valve, including houses in the area and the history and mechanics involved. He explained what he was doing at each step. Despite not knowing what to expect, he was thorough, efficient, and worked steadily for about an hour until the job was finished. While I was disappointed he was unable to stop the flooding problem as I hoped, he did repair the backflow valve, and I appreciated his honesty in referring me to a waterproofing company.
Description of Work: Came out to assess problem with back flow valve in basement. I was concerned the pit surrounding the pipe and valve was allowing runoff from torrential rains to flood the basement. He opened the valve, which had never been serviced in approximately 20 years, removed the lid, scraped out quite a bit of rust, and restored the valve to working condition. Unfortunately, that was not the source of the flooding, and he referred me to a floodproofing service.

Description of Work: The company responding very professionally to a problem that was not of their making. I had inherited two defective articles in a nearly new condominium, with recognized defects in the brand line, that had caused a number of replacements to be necessary for other residents who had detected a problem while under warranty. The plumbers (Carrozza), even though I was outside warranty, called out the manufacturer (Kohler) to help with inspection; and together they partially wrote off the cost. Two articles were used for replacement that represented an upgrade of the brand line, having improvements that corrected the defect noted in the earlier model (Kohler).

 + -1 moreThe estimator was really helpful and able to give accurate information about sump pumps and pricing over the phone. While on the higher end for labor by the hour ($175) the investment was worth it. The serviceman showed up early for the work and completed the job in an hour. He was helpful and patient with our questions and cleaned up after the installation.
Description of Work: Replaced sump pump in basement due to it not working properly. Installed new pump (Barnes) and valve and tested the system to ensure that it works. Also the serviceman gave us some good advice about odor control in the laundry room.
