Ashes No Flashes Chimney Service

I wanted a longtime unused fireplace to be evaluated for possible use. I needed George to evaluate and see if my fireplace/chimney was even usable to burn wood - which he said it was (with some modest updating work). So I asked George to provide me with pricing to get it fit to burn wood again and another option to retro-fit it to use gas instead of wood. I chose to go with the gas option . . . The work was done promptly and neatly and to my full satisfaction

He quickly figured out that the burner was too big for the firebox. George carefully explained the options to me (replace the burner and logs; convert to ventless; or convert to wood burning). I opted for wood burning and he came back at an agreed-upon time and did the work. George didn’t display any unhappiness that I went with what happened to be the cheapest option, and while he was doing the work he offered a number of tips for getting the most out of the fireplace. He also recommended a good firewood vendor. If you want a pro who knows exactly what he’s doing, it’s George and Ashes No Flashes.

George was great! Explained everything in simplest terms for us as new homeowners and promptly got to fixing the problems we needed done.

Excellent. George called me back after a panicked voice mail and set up an appointment right away. He was a straight shooter and did an excellent job.

They were fine. He handles it about every 3 years I think, every fall for my fireplace. He cleans my fireplace and basically the chimney, in the inside of it, whatever the lining is going up to the chimney. I’ve had them here before, I’ve had them here many times over the years. I don’t remember what I paid, if it was way too much I wouldn’t have had them come back. I’ve probably used them 4 or 5 times now, I don’t remember.

I have used them for years, they are absolutely wonderful! I would never use anyone else.

The closet looks great and is now functional!  The fireplace now works.  George seemed honest about the quality of our fireplace and gave us various suggestions on replacement or repairs.  Overall his team did a good job.

They were fantastic. I would use them again and will be for all my future chimney needs.

Traffic was very bad that day and George called to say he was running late, which was very understandable.  When he arrived he immediately apologized for being late and did so at least 3 other times.

When they come into your house they immediately lay down runners on your carpeting to make certain that they do not dirty anything.  They then inspect the chimney and bring their equipment inside.

They cleaned the chimney thoroughly and did a second inspection.

George is very good at providing tips to keep you chimney in shape, such as the type of wood to burn and how long you should burn your fires.  He recommended a wood guy who I found to be the same or less expensive than other I called and his wood is a lot drier and cleaner.

George found some tuckpointing needed on my chimney and will come back to do that for me as well.

George was quick with the estimate and quickly performed all the repairs even though it was the busy season. Everything is working great. Highly recommend them.

Response to initial voice-mail message was prompt.  I had several questions about our gas logs that George answered during the initial phone call.  An appointment was made for the cleaning of the chimney and gas logs and for installation of a clip to allow the damper to be held open about an inch.  George and his helper arrived when scheduled and performed the work as discussed for the price originally quoted.  George also provided information for the safe use of the fireplace and gas logs.  Very happy with the work and the care they took to protect the hardwood floor in the room.

Ashes no flashes was extremely responsive to work with.  They came out a few days after I called for a quote and gave me a very competitive price.  I also had out some other larger chimney services and they were by far the most professional in explaining my issue with the camp fire smoke smell coming from my fireplace and how to resolve it.  And they were right on.  The new chimney damper worked wonders and I haven't had any smell in the worst month of the year for us!  Thank you Ashes No Flashes.  You did a great job and the price was in my budget!!  It goes to show how you can get exceptional service from a smaller company and a great price.  Thanks!!
