Reason: water in dinning room and maid's living room
First step: make appointments, collect proposals
Second step: decision, decision, decision ...
Third step: find a good time to start the project
Then, time to start, the big project made me feel nervous - unnecessary :)

Prompt estimate. work was delayed approximately for one month after general contractor finished. Did not keep me appraised of reasons for delay. I had to call several times. They showed up and  did the work once it was actually scheduled on the start dates. Excellent quality of work.

Ken, our estimator, took a few days to contact us and make an appointment but once it was set up he was prompt, curteous and clearly knew how a concrete tile roof is constructed and how it should be maintained.  He took several pictures and a video, explained the job, and was qucik to turn around the estimate.  Joe, our installer and his assistant were very prompt (Joe called as he was coming to tell us when he would arrive, too).  Ken had met with Joe to show him the pictures and video and explain the job, so Joe knew just what needed to be done when he arrived. They were careful about walking on the tile roof (no additional cracks), very curteous, explained all that they did as they were doing it, and asked for confirmation of each step to be done.  It was clear that they knew how to work on a tile roof.  They were thorough, neat, and effective.

Mortenson inspects our tile/shingle roof every other year then makes repairs – 1929 roof.  On time.  Did a professional job.  Very easy to talk too.  Bought the house in 1995.  They did an extensive repair, have maintained it since.  Have never another roofing company, so I can not compare cost.  We have been very happy with them.

I have had them for forty years.  They are "A" across the board.  I have had them in two houses.  They know what they are doing. Once again a family owned, whenever I look for someone I try to find family owned businesses that have been around for generations.  I like the individual relationship.  They are just experts.  They do the job.

On time, very well priced, In fact did twice the work for the same cost. Mortenson has done work for us in the past. Great job, very reliable, highly recommended.

They were very responsive and did excellent work. Bad weather made it difficult, but they perservered.  They might not be the cheapest, but we learned from our porch roof that you definitely get what you pay for.  I would not hesitate to use Mortenson again.

They installed copper gutters and did repair/maintenance work on the slate roof of my previous house years ago.  I like them so much that when I moved to Northwest IN I called them instead of a more local contractor. All work was done beautifully.  They are very good about explaining what they are doing and keeping in contact with you about when they are coming out, etc.  The City gave them some grief, and they handled it very professionally and did everything they needed to do to appease them and get the job completed.  Definitely recommend them.

Excellent work! Came on time and repaired quickly and thoroughly to prevent rain damage. Only company with experience to repair vintage tile roof.

Good.  Very professional.  Because they are so busy, you may have to wait for someone to come & assess damage.

Quality work - reasonable price.

They were incredibly conscious about our home. The craftsmanship is beautiful. I consider what they do just a work of art on the slate roof. In the end they repaired our leaks on the roof with no problems.

I have a delicate 80 year old glazed clay roof, as well as two flat roof sections. I hired Mortenson, assuming that they possessed the expertise to perform all needed repairs. In order to get a 10% discount, I made the huge mistake of pre-paying this firm prior to experiencing their utter incompetence. They ended up putting my job on last priority, and did not complete the work before getting snowed in. I found the lead salesman, and the foreman to be exceptionally rude. The foreman pretended to listen to my instructions, then proceeded to disregard what I told him. I escalated my concerns to one of the owners, only to discover, after months of attempting to coordinate a time for us to meet at my house, that he was wholly arrogant and unapologetic. After dozens of emails and phone calls, spanning months, I was able to get $1740 back for work that was NEVER even started. For the work that was completed, I now feel that I paid far too much, and that I experienced one of the greatest disservices of all time. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Estimator spent a good deal of time examining the roof overall and identifying area of leakage. Promptly provided an estimate for the work and was responsive to follow up questions. Start of the work and completion could have been prompter; some commitments were missed with no advance communication. Crew seemed very capable and was respectful of my property and cleaned up fairly well. When on site they were always willing to provide info on what they were doing and notified me promptly when additional work was needed including providing photos of damage since I could not climb up on the roof.

Work was well done, and copper work was much better in quality than that of two other contractors we have used. Especially like their pinning system for holding the downspouts in place. The workers came at the promised time, worked efficiently and left the premises clean. We haven't had a major storm since the work was done, but are now optimistic that we have solved our storm water run-off problems.

The guy who made the estimate was friendly and knowledgeable. We agreed on how the work would be done. The company required a 25% deposit. After sending the deposit, I didn't hear anything for 6 weeks. I called several times asking when they would do the work, and they were rude and unpleasant and said they were busy. Several times I was told the foreman would call the next day, but he never did. About 2 months after making a deposit at about 7 am, they showed up unexpectedly, did some quick work, and re-measured the skylights (the estimator said the skylights would be ordered as soon as I made the deposit). Now I was stuck because they had started the job, so I couldn't get a refund. The job wasn't finished until 3+ months after I made the deposit. Several things the estimator and I had agreed upon was done as specified; I paid for a crane, which the estimator said was required, but no crane was used. In general, I was totally unhappy with the way this company operates.
