Chicagoland Grout Busters

Originally I thought this company was wonderful. However, shortly after my shower was re-caulked, the caulk began to come out. I called Grout Busters, and while it did take them a fair amount of time to return, they did attempt to fix the problem. Shortly afterwards, the caulk in the shower began to come out in another section. They came out to repair the caulk again. Mike repaired it and he said I could use it again at six the following morning and explained to me how I should always dry it when I was done showering. The following morning at six, I took a shower and wiped the caulk as instructed. A large portion came off indicating it was not dry. I called their office twice and left a message and even called Mike on his cell phone. I asked him to let me know what type of caulk he used so I could repair it myself. I heard nothing from his office or from him. When I called them the last time to come out I included in my message that I had written a very nice report on Angie's List, (which they already knew), and that I did not want to rescind it. I felt certain they would return my call, but they did not. Originally, I was considering hiring this company to caulk my windows in the spring and perhaps refer them to our condominium association. I certainly will not do that now.

Technician did a very good job and kept the mess contained to the bathroom and outdoors (He opened the window and kept a fan running to blow grout powder outside). Shower door was a problem, requiring extra installation time, but he took the necessary time and finished up, cleaned up well and left...after being here 6-7 hours. Next day, I found that the door was not functioning correctly, so called the company. The head man, Mike (who had given me the original estimate), came out next morning, even though it was Saturday and Memorial Day weekend. Mike took the time and effort to correct the problem and make sure the door was working (The problem had been with the door design). We now have a functioning shower and door.

After a detailed estimate, work was begun and completed 3 business days later. The work was thorough, professional-looking, and it matched the existing tile-work. The whole process took about 3 hours, including a complete cleanup.

We chose this company over another primarily because we were impressed by the thorough in-home estimate we got from Mike (3 pages long and very detailed). The grout in the hall shower looks great. AJ the technician custom mixed 5 different colors of grout stain for me to choose from. In the master shower, the grout stain was white on dark blueish gray tiles. The contrast in the colors makes the edges of the tile really stand out, and the excess stain wasn't removed as well as it could have been. There was also a lot more of a mess left in the master bathroom. I found little specks of white sealer all over the tile floor, sink, and toilet. We also had a problem with the toilet backing up the day after the work was done, and the plumber who fixed it suspected (but couldn't prove) that it was the result of dumping debris in the toilet. The work done was pretty good, but the clean-up was not. We were also left without a shower to use for one day after being told this would not happen.
