Affordable Tree Service

Tree Service

About us

My service is safe and professional. I don't use any subcontractors to do any of my work. I handle all the jobs from start to finish. I have several ways to help meet budgets if needed. I consider myself to be faster and better than most my competition. I don't have a big head but it is what it is. I can do things with trees that most people are amazed by. I have been video taped numerous times in just the past year by homeowners and bystanders while performing my job. What I do is not for most people. It is very dangerous and you definitely have to be a professional to do it or you could get seriously injured or killed. If you don't want to have to worry about your house getting damaged or someone getting injured on your property then I recommend that you use a professional. I offer very competitive pricing and even a more competitive skill level. For a Free Estimate Please Call me at 847-505-9391 Chris Green.

When I had called Chris, he was supposed to come out with his team to cut down a tree that was about 3 stories tall, it was not a small job by any means necessary. But when I had called to schedule the appointment, he said they would be there bright and early Saturday morning so I assumed 8 or 9 am. So 11 am rolls around and I'm still waiting for him, I call him to see where he is at and he's waiting on one of his workers to get to his house and should be there within 30 minutes. That was a sign of bad things to come and I should have just cancelled him at that point. So he finally showed up with 2 other guys. One of the guys was the climber and the other guy was using a rope to pulley the limbs down. So while these 2 guys did most of the work, Chris just stood around, smoked cigarettes, talked on the phone, and was very disinterested in doing the job or supervising his guys at the least. He showed up in a small truck so I wondered how he was going to haul the wood away but he assured me that he would and it would maybe take a trip or 2. So I left him to do the job, well as the day went on, i heard some loud noises outside and saw that they were lowering the wood onto my pool deck since the tree was right next to it. So as I looked down, it didnt look like there was any damage done. So I had a prior engagement where i had to leave the house around 6, so I left but left the money for the job with my grandmother who was watching my daughter. They apparently finished cutting down the tree at 9 at night so she paid them. He had called me to let me know they were done and they would come back to grind the stumps down and he said he left me some smaller pieces of wood on the side of the pool deck and whatever I didnt want, to let him know and he would take it away. So I get home pretty late on Saturday so i didnt check out the work till the next morning. So the next morning I go out onto my deck, not only did they not clean up all the sawdust on my deck, but they busted the joist underneath my deck and cracked some boards so my deck was no longer safe to walk on in certain places. And they also busted part of my fencing. Then I walk around to the side where he left me some wood and it was literally the whole tree minus the branches that were sticking out. All he did was cut the tree down and literally left some of the pieces of the base right on top where they just cut. I'm thinking it was too big for them to even roll so they just left it there. I was shocked to say the least. So I called him and told him about the damage on the deck and told him to come haul away the wood. He said that his guys didnt do the damage and said nobody told him about it. Well apparently he wasnt even arond the whole time cause he left for 2 hours with his girlfriend to go do something and then he came back later at night when his guys were almost done. So when he said that his guys didnt do it, I asked for his insurance information and he about started yelling at me over the phone saying that he will nto give me his insurance because he's got a $1000 deductible and the damage done cant be that much. So he came out that same day and said he would fix the deck and take the wood away. Well, he took some of the wood away that day and said he needed to get the materials to fix the deck so he would be back the next day. Well the next day came and went and we didnt hear from him. It took several phone calls to get in touch with him, then when I would call him from a different #, he would answer the phone then but once he found out it was me, his tone changed and always would tell me he was going to come out that day or the next which was a lie. So it took about a good month for him to finally get all the wood out of my yard and to have him partly fix my deck. So he still needed to grind the stumps down so he kept giving me an excuse as to when that would be done. So finally one day he showed up at 8 PM without calling first, he rang my doorbell and said he was there to grind the stumps. I nearly lost it becuase if he's such a professional like he claims, he would have called me first to make sure this time was ok. I live in a neighborhood that has quite a few little children around, as well as myself and that time is pretty much my childs bedtime. So I asked him how long it would take, he said 15 minutes for each stump. So 830 rolled around and he was still working on the first stump. So once he was done with that one, I told him he has to come back and do the other one cause it was getting too late at night. So he did, he came back the next morning and did the other stump. So over the course of the next few weeks, I had to get rid of the wood chips since he does not do that and noticed that one of the stumps he was to have grinded down, he didnt get all of the stump. So I called and called and called, got my lawyer involved, and yet to this day, he has never came back to grind the rest of the stump down. I have heard every excuse from this guy and he is full of it. Do not trust this guy, he is not a professional, pay a little more and go with somebody a little more reliable. Somebody like this guy should not own a business or call himself a business owner cause he does not know what it means to treat customers with respect and how to finish a job the first time. Oh, I also left out that he had one of his guys come out 2 months later to fix the rest of my deck, he could not even do this himself and he was not man enough to face me is what I'm thinking. Please people, if you read this, stay clear of this loser.
Description of Work: I had called a few tree service companies and Chris Green seemed to be the one who could do the work the quickest and his price was competitive with the other tree companies I had called. This was probably one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. He was to cut down a dead tree and haul most of it away, and grind down 2 stumps. I had also asked that he haul away the tree minus some so I could keep some for fire wood. Needless to say, there is a great reason as to why his rating is as terrible as it is because he says that he is a professional, I scoff at that because this guy is a big pile of dirt with his excuses and lack of professionalism.

After removing two trees, one large next to the house, one dead, which he did a great job on. I have no complaints with the work he did do. He removed the trees with no damage to the roof and removed all of the debri. He also trimmed some other trees on the property. However when I asked about removing the stumps, which I assumed was part of the tree removal, he advised me that there was an additional cost to remove the stumps. Stupid me gave him a check for $170 (which was cashed) to remove the stumps at a later date as he advised that they just took the stump remover out every couple of weeks and did all of the stump removals at one time. Since stump removal does require a different piece of equipment, it made sense to me. To date, after many phone calls my stumps have not been removed. I emailed him thru Craigs List (where he advertises) and told him I would contact the BBB if I did not hear back from him. Still no reseponse. My next step is to file a report with the BBB. Maybe they can light a fire, and get the stumps removed. I have no doubt that my money is gone.
Description of Work: Chris removed two trees from my daughters property. One very close to the house. He did a great job on the trees, removed all of the debri, etc. However he did not remove the stumps.

I signed a contract with a company called Affordable Tree Service / Chris Green on September 14, 2010 with a contract totalling $4575.00 to remove 2 very large oak trees, and trim and remove several smaller items. I was verbally told it would be done with a crane and would be done that weekend. When he came to do the work, he told me he couldn't fit a crane in and would be roping it instead. All but 700.00 of that amount has been paid to him, because he required deposits, and needed supplies. I have had 2 other tree companies quote the cleanup of what he didn't complete on the contract and they are about 2500,00. The tree contractor would constantly leave me voicemails that he was coming out to perform the contracted work, but then never shows up. I have heard every excuse from "my truck is had the wrong type of gas put in it", "my truck wont go into reverse", "I hurt my back, a tree feel on me", "Something came up", etc..... He has completed a portion of the work.. 1 of the large oaks was cut down, but the entire base of the tree was left in my yard on top of my crushed garden boxes that he left. He cut some off from the trees that were to be trimmed but left most of it. The 100+ year old oak tree between my house and garage he cut some of the limbs off but while doing it dropped huge limbs on my house and garage it sounded like my house was being bombed and caused damage to my roof, siding, gutter, deck, etc.. The garage limb stayed on top of my garage for 2 weeks(until another tree service removed it for me). For 2 weeks he also left the entire area full of all of the brush that he had cut. Each week I would attempt to call him but his voicemail is always full, if I text messaged him, he would sometimes call back and promise he would be there the next day.. So when I pushed to have the contract completed I was told the contract contained "no end date, so if I want to take a year to complete the job I will", and "if I had anyone else touch the trees he would put a lean on my house and put me into foreclosure" On 11/5 I had him sign a ammedement to the contract that I created stating that all work would be done and cleaned up by 7pm on the 14th..He didn't cut anything this day because he said he had no chain oil.. In that time frame he did not show up, did not complete any of the work, and only left me a message on the 12th stating he sent a guy out to look at the tree to try to finish it up for him, and that my tree was too high for him, and that he didn't like being so high.(My tree didn't grow from when it was quoted to date). and he would be there in the morning and that he didn't give up on completing the project... So I guess its not the morning yet.. Anyways, I attempted to send him a certified mail and I received it back stating no addressee at the address.. this is the same address that he signed that was on the amendment letter I created : 42 Mckinley Avenue Fox Lake, IL 60020 If anyone else has had a bad experience with him or knows how to contact him, please let me know. I am trying to get his insurance information, and some type of repayment for work not completed. A single mom.. left with a damanged house and no funds to complete what should have been a 2 -4 day project....
