Pavers and Hardscaping Service, Tree Service + 3 more
$5,700
In the beginning, things went well. Chris and his wife (who takes kind of an admin role) were very responsive via email and getting pricing together. A good friend referred me to him (who at the time did not have a bad experience) and we agreed on the price and got going. Partly my fault, I paid them up front for services, which was a rookie mistake I admit. They came out without telling me when they were coming and cut the 10 pines down. They just left pretty large logs in a messy pile that I ended up stacking myself. They left ruts in the yard, which didn't really bother me, but that's when I could tell that attention to detail and good communication weren't going to be part of the deal. It took some time to pin them down on a day for me to take off work so they could work on the house, but we got it scheduled. They came back with a bobcat with his operator Josh to start on the landscaping. I will say that their landscaping they put in looked great and functions as expected. While they were putting it in, my sewer line (no fault of theirs) crumbled and they were able to replace the portion easily that went from the exterior wall to the interior. They also did a great job removing leaves from my yard. After that is when everything has been pretty crappy. I've been extremely accommodating and I'm pretty laid back, so I've waiting to write this review to give them a chance. Now I'm getting sparse communication and the last bit of the job is sitting incomplete.
Issues: broken siding board, crooked window well, poor repair on basement window pane broken during install, ruts in yard, leaving trash behind, job is several months overdue for being finished, did a terrible job repairing yard; I ended up doing 75% of it myself after a light spread of grass seed and some hay over part of the dirt. There was also hay shoved in a hole to cover it up. I ended up seeding, spreading straw, and filling the holes myself at my own expense.
Now I'm waiting for the owner to explain why I'm waiting on the rest of the rock to fill the hole where the landscaping settled. I'm starting to have little confidence he will ever return and sent him a message that I would even settle for dropping the rock off so I could finish it. I really am laid back and wanted to give this new business a chance, but now I'm regretting the decision to go with them and I cannot recommend them to anyone else. I was waiting to throw some business their way to see how the job turned out, but they have lost it. He has also since burned my friend who gave me the initial referral with poor follow through and finishing jobs. I hope this feedback helps Chris learn for future jobs, as he will not be able to stay in business with this approach.
