I was great to leave this in their hands and rely on them to follow through!
new lights. Joel looked at it, and said it could probably be done*, but
explained why it might not work, would make a huge mess, and would take
some time. I did NOT feel that he was trying to get out of doing the
job, but that he was trying to encourage me to get light fixtures more
appropriate to my needs, existing structure, and budget.
Because that
took about 10 minutes and Pyramid's minimum cost was the same as an
hour's labor, I asked Joel if he could look at a couple of other things.
And that's how my kitchen fan and the three-way switch in my
hallway work right now. I've lived in this house for 7 years and neither
of those has ever worked, now they do. Much happiness.
Joel
didn't take much time with either of those (I didn't time him), he was
pleasant, cleaned up after any possible mess, and interacted very well
with the two curious toddler boys underfoot.
*The big box
hardware store's associate had said it could be done, but of course
wasn't there to show how. Joel was, and wow would it be a substantial
job. I ended up getting new light fixtures and installing them into the
old ceiling boxes myself.
