The Maids of Evanston/Northshore

Since moving to Northbrook, it is next to impossible to get phone calls returned to set up appointments for a cleaning or have a question answered.

I had difficulty with the Arlington Heights office, please see that report, and contacted this office to see if they would be willing to clean our 4,700 square foot home. Tom returned my call and said they would most likely be able to do our home since they work in neighboring cities; however, he would need to contact the previous office to make sure they do not object to this. He said he would call me with the update. I did not receive a phone call back for over 2 weeks.... I left a message to see what Tom had come up with after the two weeks to follow up... They still have not called me and it has been another week. I suppose they cannot even give me the curtiousy of a phone call in return.

I like that they are insured and bonded. They have been cleaning my house now for three years and I have given them a key so they can do this while I am at work. They leave a list of everything that they have done. They even cleaned out my ice box for me.

They did everything they said they would do. They called 30 minutes before they got there like I asked. They were actually 15 minutes early. One complaint is that I didn't really want to have to come back to approve the cleaning job, but she was pretty adamant about that. The major complaint I have is that it was very expensive. She quoted me 146 an hour for 4 girls. Well, 5 ended up coming and it took them 1 and 1/2. I still am not sure how that comes out to $300, but that is what they charged. They would not back down on the price. According to my calculations, it should have only been $275. I was not all that impressed with the cleaning job that they did. It was OK, but for the price, the place should have been immaculate. It was completely empty, so their was no furniture to work around/clean.

You might as well not have them. They have broken my special figurines 3 times. The last one cost me $97 to fix. Last year, they used a brittle pad that made scratches in my $2,000 mirror in my bathroom. They did reimburse me for all these things however, but I wouldn t recommend them. They care more about getting things done quickly than doing quality work. They are incompetent & cannot speak English.

They do a great job. I must say if I had to try to keep up with the house and working from my home, I would never get anything done. They are on time and do a very professional job. I like the fact that they bring in more than just two people. The crew hits the house and they are done in no time. The house looks great when they are finished.

They were fantastic! Their cleaning was fabulous, the people were wonderful, from handling the initial call to the cleaners they were A+. They were just a little expensive for my budget.

They did an incredible job! It was expensive, but worth the money for the high quality of their work. I would definitely hire them again.

I'VE USED THIS COMPANY BOTH ON A REGULAR BASIS (EVERY OTHER WEEK) AND FOR OCCASIONAL CLEANS. GENERALLY THEY ARE VERY GOOD. THEY SEND FOUR PEOPLE AT ONCE, AND TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR. THEY'VE BEEN HERE DOZENS OF TIMES AND NOT BROKEN ANYTHING, AND EVERYTHING LOOKS CLEAN AFTER THEY LEAVE. I TEND TO AGREE WITH BARBARA ERENREICH'S BOOK (''NICKLED AND DIMED'') THAT THEY SHOULD USE MORE WATER SO THAT THINGS REALLY ARE CLEAN RATHER THAN JUST LOOKING CLEAN, THOUGH. THEIR PEOPLE (STAFF AND SERVICE) ARE VERY POLITE AND FRIENDLY. GENERALLY THEIR SERVICE PEOPLE SPEAK ONLY SPANISH, AND SO IT'S DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN TO THEM IF THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL THAT YOU WANT. I WISH THAT IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO SEND THE COMPANY SOMETHING IN WRITING THAT COMMUNICATES ALL YOUR KEY CONCERNS, SO THAT THEY COULD TELL THE WORKERS IN ADVANCE. I ALSO AM NOT SURE THAT THEIR PRODUCTS ARE VERY LOW IN TOXICITY (RATHER THAN JUST ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE), WHICH MATTERS FOR SOME PEOPLE. OVERALL PRETTY GOOD, THOUGH.

I WAS NINE MONTHS PREGNANT AND DIDN'T FEEL THAT I COULD CLEAN THE HOUSE MYSELF. I DIDN'T FEEL THAT THEY DID A GOOD ENOUGH JOB FOR THE AMOUNT THAT THEY CHARGED. I HAD TO ASK THEM TO RECLEAN THE BASEMENT FLOOR, THEY DIDN'T CLEAN THE DRAWER UNDER THE OVEN, AND TOLD ME THAT THE BATH TUB HAD STAINS THAT THEY COULDN'T GET OUT. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE STAINS MYSELF WITH A HOUSEHOLD CLEANER. (I'M NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF CLEANER THEY WERE USING.) THEIR POLICY IS TO COME BACK WITHIN 24 HOURS AND CLEAN ANYTHING THAT YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH. UNFORTUNATELY, BECAUSE WE WERE BUSY MOVING IN, I DIDN'T NOTICE THESE THINGS UNTIL 3 DAYS LATER.

THEY SENT A TEAM OF 3 (WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR A 1000 SQ. FT. CONDO) AND WERE IN AND OUT IN 2 HOURS. THEY ALSO SENT A MANAGER TO GIVE US A MORE ACCURATE PRICE QUOTE. WE WERE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE WORK. THE MANAGER ALSO RETURNED AND CHECKED THE QUALITY OF THE CLEANING. I WOULD USE THIS SERVICE ON A MONTHLY OR EVERY OTHER MONTH BASIS. THE WORK WAS SO THOROUGH, BUT WE ONLY HAVE 2 ADULTS IN OUR PLACE AND DON'T NEED THAT KIND OF CLEANING ON A WEEKLY BASIS. I WOULD DEFINITELY CALL THEM BEFORE HAVING OVERNIGHT GUESTS OR A DINNER PARTY. OUR PLACE WAS SPOTLESS AFTER THEY LEFT. MY HUSBAND COMMENTED THAT IT LOOKED LIKE WE HAD JUST MOVED IN. THEY ALSO USED ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE PRODUCTS (ALL THEIR OWN SUPPLIES AND RAGS) WHICH I APPRECIATED. I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN CLEANING SERVICES USE BLEACH AND WASTE ROLLS OF PAPER TOWELS!

I AM POSSIBLY GOING TO USE THEM ON A MONTHLY BASES. EVERY TIME I CALL THE COMPANY THE DEMEANOR OF THE PEOPLE ON PHONE ARE GREAT. VERY HONEST AND I AM ALWAYS IMPRESSED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND JUST APPRECIATE THE COMPANY AS A WHOLE.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB. THEY SEEM TO TAYLOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO YOUR NEEDS, WHICH I LIKED. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS. I LIKED THE FACT THAT FOR THE FIRST APPOINTMENT, THEY SEND OUT THEIR MANAGER. I ALSO LIKED THE FACT THAT THEY INDICATED THAT THEY LIKE TO SEND THE SAME PEOPLE BACK EACH TIME THEY CLEAN.

I''VE USED THIS SERVICE FOR OVER A YEAR AND FOUND THEM TO BE CARELESS ON A FAIRLY REGULAR BASIS. SEVERAL ITEMS HAVE BEEN BROKEN OR DAMAGED IN SOME WAY OVER TIME. WHILE THEY WILL REPLACE THEM OR REIMBURSE YOU, IT''S HARDLY ANY COMFORT IF THE ITEM HAS PERSONAL VALUE OR IS IRREPLACEABLE. REPEATED CALLS TO MANAGEMENT ASKING THE TEAMS TO SLOW DOWN OR BE MORE CAREFUL HAVE BEEN FRUITLESS. I''M LOOKING FOR A NEW SERVICE.
