About us
Dave Newman is a "small jobs specialist". He is a problem solver and loves"Honey Do" and punch lists. He does light electrical, plumbing and carpentry such as changing light fixtures, switches outlets and troubleshooting electrical issues. He installs faucets and repairs toilets as well as working on problem doors and locks. As a former teacher, auto mechanic and bicycle mechanic he will provide lessons on woodworking & drafting and bicycle repair. Effective January 1, 2016 the hourly rate is $90//hour. An "Out of service area fee" of $45 will be charged for locations requiring a half hour or more of travel one way. Please feel free to ask for additional information.

Dave was great! He knew it was a matter of moving 2 screws, he came same day on the way home from his last job, literally took 1 min to move the screws and wouldn't charge me. He was so nice to do it for me and I will absolutely use him for all my other handyman tasks. He seemed knowledgeable and I highly recommend you trying him out .

He is wonderful. He has been here at least 3 times. He is very good.
He brings the electrical out let, and he also switched out the light and charged me for the bulb, but I didn't have to go get it.
He is very good at getting back to you, and following up. He was punctual and cleans up after himself.
He is very professional.
Everything was done properly and was working. I don't what more I could have expected from him.
I think he is very good at figuring out what your problem really is.

We had a couple of scheduling issues beforehand, but David communicated timely and was apologetic about the changes, so it was no problem. Very conscientious and communicative about the work he was doing, did quality work, brought quality tools with him, knew his trades, and cleaned up. Would use his services again.

I've hired Dave at least 9 times and he ALWAYS exceeds expectations. He has great carpentry skills and always thinks outside the box and comes up with creative ways to fix various issues. He is pricey but he is worth every cent. He also works very quickly. I've had handymen in the past that were half the price but worked three times slower. He's also very dependable and honest. I would have to say he was my best Angie's List find ever.

Great! Dave has always been very responsive and discusses options for fixes. I haven't hired him for any big jobs, but he's been great on all the small jobs. In the case of the garage door opener, he diagnosed the problem and let me know he couldn't fix it, and didn't charge for the visit.

David did a very good job with my list of chores that had piled up over the past year. The only reason he gets a B for price is that there are some providers that may be cheaper, but as they say, you get what you pay for.

I called Newman Household Repair only to fix a casement window operator. I texted him a photo of the stripped handle, and he saw a part that he said might be able to be fixed in only 20 minutes. Between the time we spoke on the phone and he came to my place, another casement window operator broke in a different way. He handled that with no trouble too, and showed me some issues with the operator. We ordered a new part to be installed later.
Dave did such a good job, I asked him to take a look at some cabinets that needed hinges replaced and a couple of other small jobs, and he fixed ALL of them within two hours. He was also able to fix our condo building's front door, which we've had others out to fix for years to no avail. He also pointed out some issues with the door and frame that could cause future trouble and suggested various ways (at various costs) that could be done to prevent or resolve any of those issues.
Dave is knowledgeable, creative in finding solutions, prompt, professional, and even showed me how to install the new casement window operator myself when it arrives. I highly recommend him and will be using his services in the future!
