John Cahill Plumbing showed a lack of professionalism in dealing with my complaint and I recommend looking elsewhere. While snaking a tub drain, their plumber managed to crack a steel pipe leading into a drum trap. Yes, the pipes are old, but I've been into that same drum trap many times without issue. Had the plumber simply have opened the top of the drum trap and snaked from the inside, as it's designed to do, it's hard to see how damage could have occurred.
A polite inquiry asking how repairs to the cracked pipe would be made was met with rudeness, unprofessionalism and a suggestion that I choose not to repeat here. Instead of acknowledging the plumber's incompetence, John Cahill Jr. instead insisted that the problem was caused by old pipes. I thought the premium (exorbitant, actually) prices Cahill charged was a sign they employ professionals willing to own up to their mistakes. I'm thoroughly disabused of that notion. Won't be using them again.
I obtained four quotes, and Dave at Cahill offered the system for a reasonable price, and was the only company to provide me with a solution to the airflow problem on the second floor. They suggested moving a trunk line from its current location to a location closer to where the air flow source was located. This seemed logical to me rather than hoping that the new system would just provide more airflow.
Cahill's technician Bob showed up on time, and was very professional with his work. He put down drop clothes in the home to make sure no dust or debris would get on the house, and at the end of his work days he cleaned up all debris. He explained what he was doing and happy to answer any questions.
At the end of the job, all of the connections were clean. The airflow to the second floor is much stronger, and the system is very quiet and efficient. When I had the inspector from the municipal building department come for the final inspection, he told me that everything looked great and it's what he expects from Cahill. I highly recommend them.
