I had a woodpecker peck out a large hole and many small holes in my wood siding in November. I called Heffernan painting. They worked me in when it was not too cold. The painter was excellent, very efficient and kind. He filled the hole, dried it, primed it, and applied 3 coats of stain. And he explained everything to me. All in 1 day! The siding looks like nothing happened to it. I am very grateful. LR 12/08/2022

Getting the estimate was easy and no issues. The time to get an estimate provided and having the work done was good. The actual work done had a few issues at first. The wood repairs were not done too well - areas were not sanded well - the patching looking like it was done using "wads of bubble gum". Some of the painted area had the white primer showing through the black paint. I contacted Heffernan to let them know of the problems. The problems were corrected and ultimately all was fine. The painting issues could have been weather related - the day was warm (for late fall) but night got cold (around freezing). The repainted area seems to be fine after a few weeks. The repair area was sanded and repainted - all is now fine. The challenge here is that it was a man-made error (poor workmanship/quality control/professionalism) which could have been prevented. The same person that did the original work did the re-work. Not sure why it wasn't done properly the first time. Maybe his assumption was no one would know since it was a second story window - but I noticed. Since the re-work solved the issues - but one issue could have been avoided with more care by the person doing the work - I lowered my rating for overall, professionalism and quality. Had the re-work not been needed (the one which wasn't potentially from the weather) I would have rated at least a B for those areas

I have been using Heffernan Painting Services for eight years. At this point, he has painted just about every room in my home (some twice) and each time I am amazed by his team's professionalism, precision and clean-up! I have never seen an error or splatter anywhere and their clean-up job is impeccable. Shawn, along with his family and team, are always a pleasure to do business with.

We want to tell you that the work your crew did for us on this work order was the most impressive craftsmanship we have seen in our many years of hiring tradesmen. We especially want to give deserved praise to your crew chief, Jason, for the following: 1) continually advising us of the progress and expected completion time of the work, explaining in detail aspects of and necessity for various steps of the work. At times I was thinking it was too much information, but it never was. It was always info that as a homeowner I needed to know for future maintenance or to understand why I was paying for the work; 2) anticipating future problems with this 90 year old house’s structure and suggesting solutions (future foundation shifting, resulting in wall cracks that may redevelop after patching, wood doors and screens future swelling, etc.); 3) identifying defects that weren’t part of the original work order and proactively offering solutions (French doors out of alignment due to foundation shifting, etc) 4) as to all of the above, advising us on the cost of solution options and when it made sense to spend more (or less), and saving us money on choice of paint & other materials (re-using existing hardware when feasible, use of weather stripping, etc); 5) almost fanatical attention to details (down to even showing us how he labeled the leftover paint cans for future identification) while at the same time VERY efficient work— time-to-completion was highly satisfactory considering all the repairs needed; 6) and BOTH of your men doing truly excellent work. The painting of walls and complex trim was flawless. They replaced picture hooks my wife still wanted and patched the holes she no longer wanted (as just one example), re-hung many things for us (mirrors, etc). Our rooms look beautiful; 7) scrupulous clean-up after completion. The rooms were photo-ready when your crew left. A big focus of the work was our three beautiful, 90-year-old, wood French doors in our living room with their accompanying wood storm and screen doors. Over the years, they’ve become increasingly warped and out of alignment, making them leak cold air and difficult to open and close and lock. Thanks to your work, they now look beautiful again and open, close, and lock easily, with no air gaps.

They were very polite and very professional. They were pleasant to deal with but the price was high and they were not able to work until two months’ time.

Shawn did a very thorough job on the estimate, took careful measurement with a laser and recorded everything on a pad PC, asking lots of questions along the way.  The proposal we received was by far the most complete of the three we requested, detailing every significant part of the job including materials and labor for each.  Proposal included licensing and bonding info on the company.
One room had paneling and no baseboards.  I ripped out the paneling, cleaned up the walls and cut back the carpeting so they could install the baseboards.  I also took down a small canopy over the back door.  There was a mix up with one color selection, but, thanks at least partially to the prep work I did, there was no extra charge for the correction and I have the extra paint and will use it.  Andy was our "foreman." actually the only worker outside of the carpenter.  He was excellent at communicating the plans, what would be done on what day, what materials would be used, why he was doing things specific ways, etc.  Work was scheduled as soon as we accepted the proposal and completed over a period of two weeks.  I felt that the work was close to perfect and that Andy went the extra mile for us more than once.

They set up a barrier, and no dust entered the interior of the house.  I was very pleased with the quality of the work.

They showed up on time and did a good job. They didn't make a mess and I was pleased with result.

They were extremely personable. I just loved the way they treated all of my stuff with kid gloves. I did not have to move anything when they were painting. They did everything all by themselves, put it back and cleaned up after themselves. It was a completely different experience. They do exterior painting as well.

Proposed service was explained in detail.  Employees were on time and professional.  Work areas were cleaned up at the end of each day and at the end of the job.  Excellent resuts.

We had an extensive list of carpentry and wallpaper repairs in addition to painting the living room, and we were on a tight schedule because of a charity event we were hosting. Heffernan finished all the work right on schedule. They were meticulous about checking back with us almost every evening to make sure we were satisfied with the progress and quality of the work. When one or two items in our long list was overlooked (because of a mis-communication, not their fault) , they came out within a couple of days to complete those. When our cleaning lady mistakenly scrubbed the butcher block after it had just been refinished, they came back and sanded it down and refinished it again without charging us.
These guys are focused on doing excellent work and satisfying their customers. They may not be the lowest bidder, but they wisely, in my opinion, chose to provide top quality work and compete on quality instead of price.

Shawn came and gave me an estimate he was professional and on time etc. Crew showed up on time to perform patch work and did painting the next day. They did a great job covering all my cabinets and furniture wih platic and they were pleasant and professional. The night after they painted bubbles developed in my ceiling and they had to come back and fix the ceiling which one leaves me with a patched paint area of 1' x 2' as well as MANY holidays (sp) unrelated to the patch area. (holidays are areas where they missed painting and the old paint shows through.) it was a huge inconvenience to have this done and I felt that I paid extra to hire heffernan and I only wish their quality of painting matched their price.

Heffernan was extremely professional with their estimate, timeliness and clean-up. We feel they did an amazing job. They started on a Monday and finished on Thursday, which we never thought they would do. They were complete perfectionists and there isn't a spec of paint out of line (on trim, etc).  We were very much impressed with the overall job an each night's clean-up. I would recommend them to anyone and we will absolutely use them again.

Shawn Heffernan spent almost an hour going through the house with me going over everything that needed to be painted.  We'd had exterior and interior doors replaced, as well as new windows installed, and that work caused it's own damage which needed to be repaired.  There were a number of places where cracks had appeared in the plaster or drywall.  The trim work around the new doors and windows was in many cases slightly narrower than the previous trim which left ridges of paint visible.  All of those repairs were noted and included in the estimate. 

Shawn was very flexible in working with me to get the work scheduled (the door contractor was a good bit slower than anticipated).  The work was scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. on July 11 and the painters, Odil and Al, showed up exactly on time.  Odil did the bulk of the work over five days and did a fabulous job.  He was meticulous in his attention to detail (a required trait for all great painters!) and did a great job.  Every morning when he'd show up to begin work, he'd go over with me the work he'd done the previous day and discuss the work he planned for that day.

About a week after the work was completed, I found one small (7" square) spot on a wall that hadn't taken the paint well and a small ridge of paint left above a window.  I called Odil and he was able to get both those items quickly and easily taken care of in less than an hour.  I greatly appreciate the customer focus and attention to detail that everyone at Heffernan has shown.

They are a family company, they are very professional and they do good work.

The end result was good, the journey to get there had some bumps in the road. The painting work was done well for the most part, however the ceiling in the shower stall had bubbling issues after the work was done. The ceiling area that needed to be sanded and prepped was done well except for one area (about 20% of the portion that needed prepping). The woodwork stain efforts were the biggest trouble area. The woodwork in various areas around the window and on various doors did not look good after being done, the on-site crew was having trouble getting a good result. They knew they needed to rework some of the areas. On Friday afternoon, due to the stain issue, the crew was running behind schedule and in order to make up time another person was sent to complete the work on Saturday. The original crew left a rather big mess on Friday - brushes left out, stain spilled on the tile, stain on the walls, etc. The painter that worked on Saturday (Mike) was very apologetic about the mess, appeared to be very frustrated by the work done by the others and told us that this not the way that Heffernan normally operates. Mike reported back the situation to Heffernan Painting, did a portion of the fix-up work (there was more to do than he had been told and didn't have enough time to complete). Ultimately I corresponded with Shawn Heffernan and asked Shawn to review personally. Shawn reviewed the situation, was not pleased with the work and had Mike come back to make the needed corrections. After Mike completed the work, the end result was good, the rooms were left clean and in general the job was satisfactory. Heffernan Painting did the right thing to come to a good end result, in general the crews acted professionally (except for the mess mentioned above) and the work done seemed to be fairly priced. Unfortunately it felt that the original crew may not have had the proper skills to do the assigned work on the wood trim and doors; the first crew's painting work for the most part was done well (except for the issues listed above).

I have been using them for a number of years. They employ painters who are real artisans. They are professional painters who do a wonderful job. They will give you an estimate well in advance.

Shawn was completely professional. Received a detailed contract for the painting and carpentry. He presented the contract personally and discussed it at my home. It clearly outlined all services to be performed. I was particularly happy with his review of the carpentry needs, which the other estimates either missed or were quite vague about. The crew was professional as well and the job was completed on time. A lot of attention paid to "housekeeping" during the day and completely cleaned up at the end of each day. I would highly recommend Heffernan Painting for all painting needs, interior or exterior. They have also done extensive interior work for me as well.

A squirrel had gotten into my roof and damaged it up pretty good. Heffernan did a wonderful job. Not only do they do painting but they do some carpentry work as well. They are a little higher priced; we feel they are well worth it. They have also painted the exterior of my house before and did well. We are not the kind of people that paint every five years. I do not repaint often so when it s done, I have it done well. They are wonderful and they are very professional. The employees are trained. They are neat and tidy as well.

Shawn is very knowledgeable about paint and painting processes, and will also do repairs, which is extremely helpful. He has a professional crew who are very neat, quiet, courteous and on time. His pricing was somewhere in the middle of the estimates that I obtained, so I would say that his prices are reasonable. Work is guaranteed and company is insured.
