DOVETAIL DECKS & PORCHES

This is a difficult review to write because up until the end of the project I think I would have given George an "A" for almost all ratings. So I am not sure how much of my rating is colored by the end of the project. The reason I gave George a "B" rating in most categories is due to the following: (1). He didn't show up until 12pm each day to start work. (2). He seemed to do a shabby job right at the end of the project, just to get it finished (boards were cut unevenly on the railing). To his credit he revised all the areas we pointed out as uneven.

They removed an old staircase and built a new wood stair case. They were great when it came to the scheduling and getting here. As far as the overall work is concerned there was a lot of flaws that needed attention.

Called George Perszen one evening concerning the broken pipe. He said he would be by the next evening to replace the pipe. He came out, as scheduled, and checked out the existing problem. He replaced pipe and cleaned up within an hour and a half. We were very pleased with his professionalism and his work.

George Perszen was the fourth estimate for this project. The first three wanted to put a deck on our Georgian brick house and tried to talk us into various forms of that type of structure. Since the house was built in 1948 we wanted to keep the look and integrity of the property. We are very, very pleased that Mr. Perszen agreed to follow our wishes and design plans. George was always interested in pleasing us and would offer suggestions throughout the project (many of which we took). George also told us he could do the steel fence for us. Many of the Angie's List fence companies were factory oriented and could only do black aluminum, which we found not a strong as the steel (especially for the 6' back fence and gate). All fence companies have to pay sales people for estimates, which greatly adds to the price of installation. Also the fence companies refused to get the building permits! For $7000 we believed they should have picked up the building permits. WE LOVE GEORGE!

It went very well. George did exactly what I requested and the traps hold water and my basement no longer smells like sewer gas. The new cement they installed is well-done and they cleaned up all debris and swept the area well. He even patched another small hole I had in the basement floor. His estimate was well-below the other estimates I got and he had done other work for me so I knew he was honest and reliable and reasonably priced.

Good experience with George. He came back to address a question I had with no delay. I would hire him again.

George did a great job! He cared about the structural integrity and the appearance of the porch and he did an excellent job in all ways. He answered his phone when I called, he was very responsive to my feedback and worked hard to make me happy with the job. I really appreciated his integrity and his inclination to do above and beyond expectations. I am receiving many compliments on his work and I love the look and feel of the porch. He spared no expense in putting all the bolts and brackets required by the city and he placed them in ways that actually made the porch look even nicer. He is a "good guy" and I miss him being around -- very friendly guy.
