+ -1 moreDistinctive Design Builders, Inc.(DDB) gave us a realistic estimate of the expenses involved and time frame to complete the total renovation of a three bedroom, 2.5 bath condo in a high rise building on the Gold Coast. DDB had done work on other units in the building so they were very knowledgeable about where to gain ceiling height and square footage by raising ceilings and removing walls. They were familiar with the rules and requirements of the building with regard to deliveries, elevator usage, moving times and work times. We were first timers at a gut rehab and DDB was very helpful with suggestions and because we do not live in Chicago they made themselves available on OUR time schedule for consultations in person and on the phone as the project progressed.
Description of Work: Total gut rehab of a three bedroom, 2.5 bath condo in a highrise building on the Gold Coast in Chicago. DDB gutted the kitchen and bathrooms and installed marble tub and shower walls and floors. Installed new plumbing fixtures or replaced the ones we wanted to keep after the floors had been tiled. Installed new kitchen cabinets and appliances, including a new quartzite countertop. Redid the electrical and installed a new box with new service. Installed the necessary plumbing to make a laundry room out of a closet. Installed new hardwood floors after removing the old wall to wall carpet on the cement floors and, sanded, stained and polyurethaned them. Raised the ceiling in two bathrooms to get more ceiling height. Removed walls in one bathroom to gain more space. Reconfigured closet space to make the master bath bigger and more appealing to modern standards. Replaced a wall that had been removed by previous owner to restore the third bedroom again with French doors to the living room. Dry walled, plastered and painted as necessary. They also installed all light fixtures we provided as well as new light switches, dimmers and electrical receptacles.

+ 4 moreLuis is very responsive and really cares about your satisfaction. We worked together very well and he added great ideas to help bring my vision to fruition. He had done an addition to a friend's house in the neighborhood and she recommended him to me. I would work with him again if I do more renovation.

+ 5 moreI have been very pleased. He is really good to work with. He really listens and really wants me to be happy. This is my first remodeling project, so I definitely needed a little bit of help. He both guided me, but also made sure not to push me into anything. He really listened to me. His guys that work here are terrific. They work 8 to 4 everyday. They're never late, they work hard all day. They're a nice crew.
Description of Work: Distinctive Design Builders remodeling my basement. I had mold remediation done by another company and then this company did design, drywall, painting, lighting & electrical. They created some walls where there were just posts before. They worked on a couple different rooms in the basement. They did a bit of work on some outdated plumbing.
