They are on time and they did a beautiful and perfect job.

They scheduled the appointment so I would be home and worked with me to get what I wanted done and not cut too much. They were excellent. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards.

Last April 21st we experienced very windy conditions following several days of exceptionally heavy rainfall.  My landscapers observed my large Blue Spruce tree bending in the strong winds, creating a hazard.  Since the soil was saturated, the shallow roots were unable to hold the trunk in place, and the tree was lifting from the ground and leaning towards my house.  I needed the tree cut down as soon as possible so I asked my landscaper for recommendations.  He suggested Arborgreen Tree Service in Evanston and Roy's Tree Service in Mt. Prospect.  I called Arborgreen, and the owner, Leo, told me that he would be right over to look at the tree.  I also called Roy's but had to leave a message.  Leo came by within two hours.  He quoted me $900 to cut down the Blue Spruce and $100 to cut down another large evergreen in the back yard.  He stated that he could do it in a few hours since his crew was working in nearby Wilmette.  Because the situation was urgent, I agreed to his price despite my feeling that the cost, at least for the Blue Spruce, was exorbitant.  Incidentally, Roy's Tree Service didn't call back until 5:00pm that day.
Later that afternoon, two of his workers came by and felled the two trees within a period of a few minutes.  Climbing the trees couldn't be done because of the nature of their structure and because of the danger presented by the instability.  Nevertheless the trees were taken down quickly and without much difficulty.  Most of the time-consuming work involved cutting the trunks and branches into manageable sections which were then removed from the yard.
I also asked Leo to trim some large branches from a maple tree in my neighbor's yard that were overhanging my roof.  However, I did not want his people to enter the neighbor's property so I asked if he could do the work from the roof of my house.  He agreed to do it but at a later time; the cost would be $375.  The trimming was performed two weeks later while I was not at home.
A few days after the initial work, I left a phone message for Leo and wrote him an email, asking him if he could remove the tree stumps, what it would cost, and was he going to send me a receipt for the tree-felling.  Two weeks later I had not received a response so I sent him another email.  It was not until mid-June that I received a receipt for the tree-felling work and a bill for the tree-trimming.  Still, though, there was no response on my request for an estimate to remove the stumps.
On July 31 I left another phone message and sent another email, asking for the estimate.  Eleven days later Leo called me back to indicate his availability.  However, by then I had found another contractor to do the work.

Very good.  He readily shared his insurance information when I asked and was $800 cheaper than a bid we got from a competitor.  After I signed the contract I did not hear from Arborgreen for a couple of weeks, but they showed up and did a great job.  Would use them again, and I guess I just have to be patient!

Leo and his team were great. They arrived promptly in the a.m., worked all day until until the job was complete, and left no mess or tree waste. I have (and will continue to) recommend Leo to our friends and neighbors.

Leo and his crew showed up on a Saturday to accomodate my work schedule. They arrived on time, did the work beyond my expectation (after getting such a negative opinion of my old willow by Care of Trees it was very gratifying to see the tree so

carefully tended, it is old but now that Leo and his team cut out the dead wood it is elegant and new growth has already begun.)



After calling several companies, and meeting with them, it was clear, not only by the estimates, that Arbor Green was the company to use. Leo has a passion for trees, his philosophy is like the doctor's 'DO NO HARM' approach with the health of the trees foremost. They trimmed to the arborist standards and left my yard in pristine condition - no sign they had been there except a beautiful canopy of trees. The willow looks magnificent, all the dead wood gone even at the very top of the tree - branches I thought would be inaccessable to the climbers' tools.



Arbor Green is now my tree CARE company after identifying other potential problems in my landscape and offered solutions to handle them.
