In-State Moving Service
$350
I was quoted $200 but charged $350 because they charged by the minute for things like going to the bathroom and visiting with my cats. They put in for 15 minutes to get to the location when it should not have been more than 5. They also charged me 15 minutes to write up the bill.

very smoothly. In all cases, the movers arrived earlier than expected and worked very hard to get everything moved in a timely manner. in my case, I needed a bed and two cabinet pieces disassembled and reassembled. the pricing for my move was more expensive than my mom's. Her move was estimated as a simply move for approx. $500 more or less

This could have been a disaster. After confirming the date of the move via email the day before, no one came the morning of the move! Apparently there was a misunderstanding. I emphasized we had to move that day-there was not any room to reschedule. They called Addison in the Joliet office and he sprang into action. He brought a crew later in the afternoon after they completed a different move. The crew was fantastic, cheerful and hard-working. So many thanks to Dakota, Marcus and Jeremy!! And a special thanks to Addison who usually works coordinating things in the office, but came to lead the crew.

They charged me a lot more than we talked about. They said I had more furniture than they initially thought. They used their wrapping paper and boxes. It seemed like the price was just climbing up and up. I had a brand new stereo, that was for $3000 in a box and I couldn't find it. It was about two weeks before and they put everything in the garage. So I went through my garage and asked where the stereo was, it was missing. Plus, I had to give them a call because they were in so much of a rush to leave that I had a stereo stand that still had the cloth on it and still wrapped up in plastic. I thought they were very unprofessional. I will never use them again. They got there late. I won't recommend them to anybody.

"Good morning [Member Name Removed]. We're sorry to hear about your frustration. Please call our office at 630-834-6683 and speak with Steven Ciolek to discuss your concerns. We are concerned about your low scoring from a move that was completed last October and would love to work with you to hopefully come up with a resolution. We hope to hear from you."

It went well. I was the first move of the day so they were right on time. Only thing was a leg of a dresser was left behind in the front yard and I had to run back to get this.

Terribly. We were moving my elderly parents from their home to a senior living apartment. The apartment facility recommended Two Men and a Truck as movers who were familiar with their loading dock/elevators/rules etc., so we hired them.
We were only moving a portion of their belongings with them--No appliances, no dining room furniture, nothing tricky. Distance was about 3 miles. My sisters and I prepared thoroughly for the move, we had all the furniture and boxes that were "going" corralled into rooms near the front door for easy transport. All boxes were color coded (blue for master bedroom, etc.) We had a floorplan of the new apartment which showed where everything went. We had taken apart the bedframes, disconnected mirrors from dressers, etc.
The estimate was for 1100.00 (including $50 for boxes which we did not get/use). The day of the move, they called and said the truck had broken down and they would be sending a different crew and truck from another location out of town (there goes the familiarity edge).
Long story short, it took over 11 hours to do this move. They billed over $2000.00. They broke multiple pieces of furniture and smashed an entire box of glassware marked "fragile"--I mean SMASHED!
We disputed the bill. They reviewed our complaints and --without ever sending anyone out to see what was moved, or what the physical situation was at the apartment complex, they decided they were justified in their bill. I was told their decision was based on "the law of averages--when you do over 20,000 moves, you know what you're doing". They offered $181.00 as a "good will" gesture--no idea how they came up with that figure, he couldn't explain it.

This is the third time we have used Two Men and a Truck from Elmhurst, IL (now in Carol Stream, I believe) and they were outstanding!!  Every time we used them they were terriffic, but this crew outdid all the rest.  And this is not a "paid" review.  I'd be willing to offer contact information, if necessary, and anyone could contact me if they wish.

The 4 movers were very courteous and professional, always taking care not to track in snow, etc. on the new carpet (they laid down runners and tarps to ensure the snow wasn't tracked in). They worked hard and fast and, as a result, the final price came in lower than the estimated quote of $1,200. We would definitely use them again and would recommend them highly to anyone planning a move.

Terrible....Gave me a low ball estimate $912 plus $300 for overnight storage, I was billed almost 1700 dollars which was about 500 dollars off....Lost some items...Left items behind which I had to drive an hour each way to retrieve....Damaged new King Size Mattress.....Sent wrong truck on day one ....I lived in far west suburbs sent a truck from Chicago took over 1 hour and a half to get to my house....2 Part move due to overnight storage 2nd day move went to wrong address first....This was a problem because truck was loaded to go to Address #1 first not address #2......Overall I would not recommend or ever use two men and a truck......Beware beware regarding low ball estimate......TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The moving job was a very small job, but I'm not able to move the furniture down steps by myself so I hired professional movers, knowing that they'd require a minimum charge. In this case, the minimum was three hours. I was fine with that as it was worth it to me to get the furniture moved safely and without damaging the walls and floors in my house. Two men were assigned to my job and they showed up on time. One was very good and professional, the other was useless. I think it was his first day on the job and he couldn't lift anything, slid furniture across my hardwood floors so that he wouldn't have to lift it, and at least once dropped his end of a dresser because "his strength gave out". He kept saying that he wasn't in shape and isn't used to lifting heavy things. I'm not sure how he was ever hired to be a furniture mover. In the end, I have gouges and scratches in my floors from the furniture being dragged and dropped. I would not use Two Men and a Truck again.

It was average.
Response from Two Men And A Truck
"Our estimate for the move was $627 and the actual cost was $650. When we provide an estimate it is just a rough idea of time/cost and the customer is billed for actual work and travel time at an hourly rate. I am sorry you felt we took too long to move your furniture but our estimating software is based on data from the last 30 years and 4,000,000 moves. Our estimate was off by less than 15 minutes which is pretty good in the moving industry. In addition, our estimate and the work time includes completely wrapping and protecting your furniture and home (door covers, floor protection, stair protection, etc.) which you indicated the crew did in your review. A good amount of your move time is spent on properly protecting items and your home during the move and that is just one area that we do not cut corners. Could another moving company had done it faster? Maybe but not “properly”. We are not a “grab and go” moving company as that just leads to damaged items and unhappy customers. Also, you mentioned the crew arrived there late. We show a scheduled arrival time of 8:30 – 9:30 for your move. All of our trucks are tracked by a dispatch department using real time GPS and our records indicate we arrived at 9:45. You are correct as we were 15 minutes late. Unfortunately this was the day after the chicagoland 4/18 7 inch rainfall and traffic was thick due to so many road closures and re-routes. That is why the guys got there 15 minutes late. We value you as a customer and apologize for the delay."

From start to finish it was great. Chris R and Miguel arrived earlier than the specified time (we were ready as we knew from previous experience they were prompt). They began right away and got loaded very quickly and efficiently and unloaded quickly and efficiently. Very courteous and hard working. You can't go wrong with Two Men and a Truck out of Elmhurst, Illinois.

Everything went great. Jeremiah, Trevor, and Brian are wonderful. The guys are professional, courteous and work quickly and work smart...calling the company for the first time for an estimate and where to begin the process went very easily. I believe the person that took my initial call was named Jay and he was excellent in explaining every facet of the move to me. I haven't moved in 30 years, and hope I never have to again, but if I did, I would choose Two Men and a Truck again.

After viewing this company on Angie's List, we decided to use Two Men and a Truck out of Elmhurst, IL and they were excellent!! I would definitely recommend them. They were on time and did an excellent job of preparing items to move and the job was done in the time frame of the estimate. We are using them again in a month, my daughter had to move out of one apartment and into our home until her new apartment was ready.

Their estimate was spot on as far as the hours they thought it would take.
Arrived at the earliest time of their arrival window. Gave me a call about 20 minutes before that to let me know that they were on their way.
They worked quickly and efficiently, never standing around or wasting any time.
Everything was excellent from start to finish.
I choose Two Men and a Truck because of the positive Angie's List reviews and I was not disappointed.
Absolutely would recommend.

Everything was spelled out in writing from the start: my expectations, what would be involved, what the rates were, the estimated time for the move and the final results. The movers worked very quickly. They wore booties and uniforms. They didn't play radios or have head phones on. They talked to me and kept me informed as to where they were at and what was next. They were very helpful at the new house, moving things a few times to where I decided that the furniture looked better. The movers were very polite and professional. I loved that the job was cheaper than expected!

Two Men and a Truck were very prompt and courteous. They made a stressful situation go smoothly. They moved everything. I almost didn't even need to be there, except to tell them where to put things in our new house. The men did a great job! Nothing broke, and nothing got left behind. You could probably find some other company for a cheaper price, but you would not be getting the superior service. Would definitely use them again!

Movers were very efficient. They wrapped everything and made the move as painless as possible.
They did not damage any furniture and everything is in perfect condtion. We packed everything in boxes as they suggested.
If you need extra boxes let them know ahead of time. They did have wardrobes on the truck though.
I would use them again for sure
