"Good morning [Member Name Removed]. We're sorry to hear about your frustration. Please call our office at 630-834-6683 and speak with Steven Ciolek to discuss your concerns. We are concerned about your low scoring from a move that was completed last October and would love to work with you to hopefully come up with a resolution. We hope to hear from you."
We were only moving a portion of their belongings with them--No appliances, no dining room furniture, nothing tricky. Distance was about 3 miles. My sisters and I prepared thoroughly for the move, we had all the furniture and boxes that were "going" corralled into rooms near the front door for easy transport. All boxes were color coded (blue for master bedroom, etc.) We had a floorplan of the new apartment which showed where everything went. We had taken apart the bedframes, disconnected mirrors from dressers, etc.
The estimate was for 1100.00 (including $50 for boxes which we did not get/use). The day of the move, they called and said the truck had broken down and they would be sending a different crew and truck from another location out of town (there goes the familiarity edge).
Long story short, it took over 11 hours to do this move. They billed over $2000.00. They broke multiple pieces of furniture and smashed an entire box of glassware marked "fragile"--I mean SMASHED!
We disputed the bill. They reviewed our complaints and --without ever sending anyone out to see what was moved, or what the physical situation was at the apartment complex, they decided they were justified in their bill. I was told their decision was based on "the law of averages--when you do over 20,000 moves, you know what you're doing". They offered $181.00 as a "good will" gesture--no idea how they came up with that figure, he couldn't explain it.
"Our estimate for the move was $627 and the actual cost was $650. When we provide an estimate it is just a rough idea of time/cost and the customer is billed for actual work and travel time at an hourly rate. I am sorry you felt we took too long to move your furniture but our estimating software is based on data from the last 30 years and 4,000,000 moves. Our estimate was off by less than 15 minutes which is pretty good in the moving industry. In addition, our estimate and the work time includes completely wrapping and protecting your furniture and home (door covers, floor protection, stair protection, etc.) which you indicated the crew did in your review. A good amount of your move time is spent on properly protecting items and your home during the move and that is just one area that we do not cut corners. Could another moving company had done it faster? Maybe but not “properly”. We are not a “grab and go” moving company as that just leads to damaged items and unhappy customers. Also, you mentioned the crew arrived there late. We show a scheduled arrival time of 8:30 – 9:30 for your move. All of our trucks are tracked by a dispatch department using real time GPS and our records indicate we arrived at 9:45. You are correct as we were 15 minutes late. Unfortunately this was the day after the chicagoland 4/18 7 inch rainfall and traffic was thick due to so many road closures and re-routes. That is why the guys got there 15 minutes late. We value you as a customer and apologize for the delay."
Arrived at the earliest time of their arrival window. Gave me a call about 20 minutes before that to let me know that they were on their way.
They worked quickly and efficiently, never standing around or wasting any time.
Everything was excellent from start to finish.
I choose Two Men and a Truck because of the positive Angie's List reviews and I was not disappointed.
Absolutely would recommend.
They did not damage any furniture and everything is in perfect condtion. We packed everything in boxes as they suggested.
If you need extra boxes let them know ahead of time. They did have wardrobes on the truck though.
I would use them again for sure
