Terminix - Elmhurst -Termite & Pest Control

I have been a long standing client with Terminix for bug and rodent control, and was extremely happy with the service until now. 1) I received an email from Terminix for a free termite pest inspection, which was timely as I needed a termite inspection report for a VA Military Home Loan refinancing. I scheduled the free inspection through the email link and received a confirmed appointment email for 9/1. However, the representative never showed. That night, I went back into the email link and rescheduled for 9/6. 2) On 9/6, the representative (David G.) arrived. At the door, I immediately showed him the free inspection email to confirm that I was going to receive the inspection and a termite report for my VA Military Home Loan at zero cost. David informed me that the VA inspection was not free and accused me of trying to scam him, which was extremely disrespectful and not how I would expect to be treated as a customer. This was very poor treatment. 4) David informed me that though the VA inspection and the free termite inspection are the same exact thing, he had to charge me $200 if I want to receive a copy of the inspection report for the VA. However, he conveniently had the ability to wave the $200 fee if I enrolled in their >$1k annual termite protection insurance. I do not agree with high pressure sales or ultimatums, so I paid the $200 fee (though it should have been free) to receive the inspection report. 5) It is now 11 days later and I am still without the report and not able to close on my refinancing without it, plus I am out $200. 6) I contacted the Terminix 800# several times to obtain the report status and the agent has attempted to call the local branch, but says the local branch cannot be reached. I attempted to escalate to the corporate number with Service Master, but they too say they are unable to reach the local branch. I am now left having to try to find another pest inspection service, so I may close on my VA military home loan, while also being out $200 which should never have been charged to me in the first place. This is no way to treat a military veteran and certainly not how they should be treating a long standing client. Beware of their Pest Inspection Bait & Switch Fraud.

The young man was professional, respectful and thorough. Grading for quality, punctuality and professionalism goes to the worker not the company.

I plan to keep using them. When they first came out they didn't give me any explanation about the kind of chemicals they were going to be using in my yard.

They're here regularly. They're here quite frequently. We have a subscription with them. We pay them twice a year or something like that. Why we do like them is they do a healthy mosquito control. It's just natural products so it safe for pets and kids. We like that. The real issue we have with them is they are so big as a corporation their bureaucracy only allows them to come once a month. However they will come more frequently, but we have to initiate the visit with one-off scheduling. They come regularly monthly as part of the service, but we have to chase them down to come more within that month if we need more help with ant or mosquitoes or whatever the case may be. That's what's crazy. They can't set up a weekly visit or a bi-weekly visit. We have to call and chase them. Then they'll come on that scheduled day every month that's already in their system. We have to chase them. That's the punctuality thing and the responsiveness thing. It just seems odd. They only auto-schedule one a month. They don't do any more frequent than that. We have to chase more frequent. They're happy to come when you call and chase them and have to wait for 5 minutes on call with some central call service because it's such a big company. Once you reach them and schedule it, they're fine, but it's quite an ordeal to get them to come and send someone.

If something happens you can always call them back out.

Ants no longer a problem after 2 quarterly sprays

Their representative came twice, and nothing was done. I wouldn't recommend them at all!!!

I wanted to try something different. I think pest-control, their business model is not something I like. I’m not a huge fan of the business model.

had to call three times to setup an appointment. technician never came. could not call local facility. all calls routed to call center where representative could not respond to my concerns. my advice, find a local reputable company. forget Terminix

There were termites in the house and when he came out we found they were in the soil. They had probably been in that house for some time. The guy was thorough and he explained everything. He showed us what all he was doing and where he was treating everything. The stairs were concrete and he even drilled holes and put treatment down in the stairs. It was great.  The guy was calm and explained things to me. He showed me what to look for in the future and I feel I am well-versed if I ever run into that situation again. For the time that he spent and the work that he did I think his price was reasonable.

Well if they've ever had to come back out, it's done willing and etc..., and they take care of the problem.

I initially had them. It has had to be a cancellation opportunity when I used this. I can tell you the worst. They didn't come promptly. They came the next day. Secondly, the price was at least five times higher. They told me something which happened to this intro which is that traps are worthless, didn't kill any mice.

I would say give them a try.

They said that I had a regularly schedule visit for Monday 8/25. I said I need someone sooner as I have ants coming into my kitchen. They said the earliest they could get someone out was Thursday 8/11. With a frustrated sigh and resistance, I yielded that this was the best they could do. After playing defense and my own offense with the ants for several days, the time period came on Thursday and no one showed up. I called later on Thursday and the agent said he left two voicemails and emails with the local operators trying to find out when they could come out and for them to contact me. I called again mid-day Friday after no one called me and said I needed to speak with someone to get a appointment before the end of the day or I would be cancelling my service. It is now Monday evening 8/15 and never heard from them. I just cancelled my service. At $93/qtr, I expect much better customer service. I am tired of wasting my time (hours) on the phone with them when they never bother to show up or call back/explain/reschedule. They would have to pay me for wasted time before I would go back to them.

The chemicals they were using were not effective for the inside of the home.

Got rid of the ants but they came back a few days later. I bought ant traps which have since worked.
The first technician was on time and professional. He gets an A.
The issue involves the follow up visit. The technician was a no show and gets an F.
I scheduled an in between appointment to get a follow up spray. This technician never showed. Terminix called him several times and he never picked up. 
 
Terminix gets an F on this appointment due to the technician's failure to show and to not call. I take time off from work for a service and I expect a service, not a no show.
I cancelled my service a few years back for this very reason...they could not get their schedules aligned. After several missed appointments, I ended the service.
I requested a refund and to have my contract voided. I am looking at other pest control providers.
