ECG performed clearance and ambient air tests after asbestos remediation in our attic. The office personnell and tech Tucker were very patient and responsive with all of our questions.

I called and left a message with ECG on Sunday about some particles in the air due to some construction work on the floor above our office space. I got a return call first thing Monday morning, a verbal estimate while on the call, and the rep was able to come out right away. Air quality readings were conducted in multiple locations in our office space, and I had a full report in my email by end of day. The cost was $850 which wasn't cheap but seemed fair. It was fast and professional service and I would use them again.

My experience with them was very good. His manner was good. He wasn't arrogant. He was good. There were different things that I was concerned about that might have asbestos and he checked them all. He took them to the lab and the results came back that I did have asbestos on some things but not on other things. They also provided documentation of what they found, which is good for when I sell the house.

I hired ECG to test for lead paint in a house I had made an offer on. I have a small child and it is an old house so I was concerned about the likelihood of there being lead paint. We were also aware of lead soldering on one water pipe and thought there might be a possibility of other lead pipes in the house, so we decided to have a drinking water sample taken as well.
I scheduled this all to take place during our attorney review period because the results could have affected what kinds of credits we asked for. ECG was not able to come out for the first several days of attorney review but I scheduled the appointment at the earliest time they could come, so that I would still have time to get the results before the review was up (Jacob, the technician, informed me that the lead paint results are given the same day, and the lab test for the water takes 48 hours). If all had gone as scheduled I would have gotten the lab test results a full day before the last day of our attorney review period.
Our appointment was scheduled for a Tuesday afternoon. Jacob called me that morning and said that due to an emergency job he was unable to keep the appointment. He said he'd be available the following day. It was very inconvenient for me because I had to spend the morning rescheduling babysitters and going back and forth between Jacob, my realtor and the listing agent so that everyone was coordinated. But I knew it would still give us two days to complete the lead water test. And Jacob did offer me a 10% discount for the trouble, which I appreciated.
On Wednesday he came and tested all the types of surfaces in the house with the XRF instrument and told me the readings as we went along, which was very helpful. He also asked if I had any particular concerns or wanted anything tested that he hadn't already tested. At the time it seemed he was very thorough, but afterwards I regretted not having him test some outside surfaces as well. I know that some companies I'd talked to specifically said they tested all inside and outside painted surfaces. I couldn't remember if he'd told me that too, and I wasn't assertive enough to ask him to do it. So that was my fault, but unfortunately I was left with a feeling of not having gotten all the answers I wanted. Later, when I got the report, I realized that I also didn't understand all the descriptions he used for the areas of the house. Even though I'd been there with him it was hard to keep track of everything he tested, and it was a bit frustrating not to understand what component a particular test result referred to.
At the end he collected the water sample and then informed me that everything (the official written report and the lab results) would take much longer than expected.
I received the lead paint report the next day. But I received the lab test results over two weeks later only after several emails and phone calls trying to find out what was going on, and false promises on Jacob's part about when they would be done. Fortunately the water ended up testing fine, which was a relief because we were already going ahead with buying the house. But it was very irritating that we'd paid for a service and been informed of a timeline to expect, only for it to turn out nothing like that.
My overall impression was that the company and Jacob might be professional but that I was a small, unimportant client to them and I repeatedly ended up at the bottom of their to-do list.

In order to apply for a demolition permit through Cook County, a building first needs to be tested for asbestos. We called Environmental Consulting Group and Jacob came out to take the samples they'd need to do the testing. Within a couple of days, we had an email with the negative results of those tests. It was a pretty cut and dry process, so there's not much else to say about the job itself. However, Jacob knew we were in a hurry to get our demolition application filed with the county and he made it a priority to get me the results as quickly as possible, going so far as to email those results on a holiday weekend. I'm impressed with his dedication and as a result, would recommend this company to anyone needing their services.

The ECG representative was very professional. He was on time and well spoken. ECG was helpful in identifying the moisture source which caused the mold growth.

On June 5, 2008, the technician (Luke Nienhouse) arrived on time and inspected for mold and other moisture problems in the house. He did point out several areas of high moisture but found no mold. The home inspector we hired DID find mold (out in the open in 3 spots in the basement--not hard to see, either). The report was sent to us on June 12, 2008, and said the mold inspection had taken place on June 10, 2008. The report was written by a technical writer and not the inspector. Since we were considering buying this house, time was of the essence. I indicated this when I scheduled the appointment and in person to the technician. Despite this, the report came a week later, too late to submit under the window for attorney approval. I did call the company and complain about the quality of work (not finding mold when it was present, as well as not submitting report in the time frame promised).

They were able to get a technician out to our house very quickly. A full written report took a little longer than anticipated, but they were happy to discuss the results of the testing over the phone in the meantime.

Jacob Persky professionally scheduled the appointment to fit my busy schedule. Spencer Savoie, a licensed lead inspection professional, performed the risk assessment using an X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer. He performed over 340 readings of my old 1920's home. Spencer was professional, careful, kind, patient, considerate, thorough, and extremely intelligent. I couldn't ask for a better person to test my family home for lead-based paint and materials. I even received a 28 page detailed report within days of the appointment! I highly recommend Environmental Consulting Group to any residence or business interested in accurate and professional lead risk assessment.
