We hired Aim High Contracting to finish our Attic. We signed a contract as well as wrote a check for half the price needed for a deposit on 2/17/18 (in which that check was conveniently cashed/cleared on 2/20/18). We spoke directly to the owner Chris Gapastione and arranged for work to begin on Wednesday, 2/21/18. Due to the heavy rains, Chris sent a text to us the night before stating that they had "emergency flood repair work" to attend to, so that they would begin work on Saturday, 2/24/18. (Mind you, this is the 2nd attempt at trying to get him to complete our attic. The first time he completely ghosted is. No call, no text, no email stating he wasn't coming). With him, would be his employee Connor as well as an electrician. They were set to be at our house at 9:30 am. Materials were to be delivered at 7:30am that morning. Come 9:15am Saturday morning, an email was sent to say that they are running late and would be at our house around 10:30ish. Noon came around and no one had arrived. Two men came knocking at our door saying that they were sent by Chris to look at our attic to see what was to be done, since pictures of the attic job were to be sent to them by Chris, but never were. With no prior knowledge of these men, we were not about to let them into our home. My husband asked if they had materials with them in order to begin the work and they stated that they did not and that the job wouldn't be started until Monday. My husband informed the men that Chris was supposed to be at our house at 9:30 that morning WITH materials and that he will be calling him to cancel the job. The two men left and my husband proceeded to send Chris an email outlining his frustration as well as stating that we wanted to void the contract and get our deposit back. 3 days later, Chris responded to my husband saying that he would refund our money. We suggested giving it to one of his employees (with whom we are close friends with and were actually referred by) to give to us. That was on 2/27/18. After numerous emails, texts and failed meetups, we have YET to receive back the $1400 deposit. He claimed that the contract stated he had 45 days to refund us. NOWHERE within the contract does it ever state a timeframe for anything. As personable as Chris may be, I would NEVER refer him to anyone. He is extremely unprofessional, lacks follow through and has the very best excuses attempting to dismiss his unreliable character.
