The process of picking out a slab, settling on a price and installation date went great. The installers showed up right on time no problem there. We had two issues: 1. one of the counters was a 1/2" from the wall where we wanted to only caulk and 2. there are 4 black dime size spots near the front of one of the counters that are not smooth like the rest of the counter surface. When I called Fred (the owner) about these issues he said they would make it right. He sent someone out immediately to add a short backsplash along the sides of the counter with the gap. Not the look I was going for, but it helped and was a good answer to the problem. The second issue has not been so easy. When the guy came out to add the backsplashes he also tried to buff out the black spots, he could not. I called Fred and he said if I wanted to buy another 1/2 slab I could get it replaced. I told him I had already invested enough in this project. He indicated that this was natural stone and that I picked it out. He was well aware that my husband and I had never done this before. He was with us when we picked it out. When we were there I asked if this slab would be ours and he said ours was in the back but that they were all identical. He did not say "you may want to notice these black spots here". I have a picture of the one we picked and no black spots are visible. The other thing is, why would they cut it with these spots right in the front. You walk into the kitchen and it's the first thing you see. If I knew it would be like this I would have chosen something else. In my last discussion with Fred he was going to call someone to see if there was something he could do. He said he would call me back the next day. That was a week ago. I have called and he has not called back. This issue began about a month ago and Fred is not returning my calls. My advice to anyone purchasing from this company or any other is to ask to see your slab with the cutout template before they cut it. If there are any issues, like ours, they should call you before they cut to let you know so you can be involved in the decision of what to do. As far as Fred "making it right" we will see. I will update this posting if he does.
