Countertop and Backsplash Service
I recently purchased a property and asked Kitchen Transformation to come out and give me a quote. Paul Batashev, the owner, stopped out and quoted me a fair price for the kitchen and island. I decided to move forward with them. When they delivered the granite, they had cut the island piece in half so it was easier to carry up 1 flight of stairs. The building is 4 stories, my unit is on the second floor, and all other stories have 1 single granite slab for the island. Paul tried to say he told me this and that the hallways were too small. The hallways are actually oversized and he did NOT say the island slab would be cut in
half with a seam in the middle of my beautiful island granite slab. If so, I would have selected a vendor who could install it correctly and similar to all other units in the building on higher floors. I allowed Paul's worker to come out and try and "polish" the seam to improve the aesthetics. It did not work. I called Paul in person to ask he either replace the island slab with one matching piece (preferred solution) or worst case refund the price of the island estimated at $700. I've done my
research and other granite installers say this is completely unacceptable and a ~18 sq ft of granite island installed on the second floor unit with oversized hallways should NOT be cut in half. Paul simply cut corners and hired only a couple guys to carry the stone. As I tried to work a resolution with Paul B he became very unprofessional cursing at me and calling me a terrorist for asking him to resolve. I offered 3 options for a resolution. 1. Replace the granite with 1 matching piece (which is preferred), 2. Refund the value of the island 3. Do nothing and I would pursue resolution through the BBB. Paul chose to ignore my request. Paul is cheap, but unfortunately you get what you pay for. I strongly recommend avoiding this company. Incredibly unprofessional and chose to cut corners and avoid doing a job the right way.
