It was outstanding. It sounded like a lot of money initially, but replacing the furnace has save me lots of money in utility bills. Al is also a teacher, so he was able to explain everything thoroughly for me.

The service technician arrived on time, conducted himself professionally, checked out the 20 year old air conditioning unit and graded it in good condition, and e-mailed requested quotes for an appropriate new furnace and air conditioning unit for my primary residence in a timely manner.
I have used this company for 5 years to maintain my heating and air conditioning system at my primary residence. I am very, very happy with the service they provide. Their service technicians know what they are doing, are very professional, and provide exceptional customer service.

My family has been using Kaplan for as long as I can remember (has to be close to 30 years now). I have been using them myself for 7 years. They are reliable, use quality products, have nice employees, and they are fairly priced. I called to schedule the appointment and asked that they arrive before noon, preferably as early as possible. Mark arrived before noon as expected and cleaned up the furnace and AC unit outside. He loosened some bolts and the unit no longer sounds like a lawnmower in my family room. He answered my questions about the humidifier and gave me a rough quote on replacing it (it sounds as if it varies a lot depending on what I want). He answered the question about the intake piping. And picked up and installed the part.. And changed the filter. I've always had great experiences with Kaplan.

Mark came to the house on time to do a routine seasonal cleaning and inspection. He found a crack in the heat exchanger and called to see if my York furnace had a warranty on the part. There was a warranty available, but he fairly explained that the option may cost more in the long run. He explained what other options I had for furnace replacement and upgrades. He told me that we could reroute the water drainage to the washer drain so there wouldn't be water freezing on the outside of the house when the humidifier was running.

I received a very good proposal with all of the options discussed including part replacement and the option to replace the furnace with a refurbished one to save money. I decided to get a two stage new furnace, new humidifier, and upgraded coil system.

The men that came to the house to do the work were very nice. But they did not know anything about rerouting the water drainage as discussed until I told them. After climbing in the crawlspace, I was warned that it may not be a good idea since the toilet drained where the washer did, and we could have a sewer gas problem if they messed with it. I appreciated the honesty.

After the furnace was installed, I realized that we did not obtain a village permit. I had to leave messages several times at Al Kaplan's before receiving a response on the permit application. It was pretty apparent that they would have preferred not obtaining a permit and were hoping I would go away. But in the end, they did get the permit, and the furnace was inspected without incident.

In conclusion, I feel it was a mixed result. I was very happy with the proposal and the work. But I was not happy that I had to inform the HVAC people of an item that was supposed to be done. I also was not happy that I had to push so hard to get a permit application.

They are my number one for heating and cooling. I refer them to my clients regularly too. They are very good at explaining what is wrong. They fix what is wrong and they do it in a timely fashion. I always thought that their prices were competitive. I always thought that they do a great job at explaining what the problem is, how to fix it and how to properly maintain your system. I have never had a problem and I can call them in for an emergency. They have done everything from my annual cleaning in the last five years to installing a full system for one of my clients. It is a family run business and they are really nice people.

The whole experience was great. The woman who scheduled the appointment was very nice. They called before they came, as I had requested. Mike arrived on time. He was very nice and neat. He checked the furnace, he recommended that I change the filters, he checked the wiring, etc. He checked the compressor outside, we discussed maintenance. He ran the AC and checked all the pressures and outputs. He cleaned up after himself. He was polite and answered all my questions and had no problem with me following him around the whole time. I paid, he left me a receipt that indicated what he had done.

Excellent, I got an immediate response to my request, he arrived at the scheduled time, did the work in a timely manner and I will definitely use him again to check out my air conditioner next spring.

called company that I have used over the year and was advised unit was shot, nothing could be done over week-end, salesman on vacation and stated problem with unit, etc. I called Al Kaplan, off Angie's List, and a service man came out within 1 hour, rewired unit so that I would have air for the week-end and we agreed a new unit was required,(he never heard diagnosis given) he then called me with a price for a replacement unit as agreed on Monday at 8:00 and at 8:45 servicemen arrived with new unit and installed and all is well. Amazing service, professional workmen and workmanship. I am so very pleased with this company and will utilize them going forward. Highly recommended....

They company representatives were on time. They performed an outstanding removal of the old equipment and installation of the new equipment, all in a timely manner. They left the work area remarkably clean, and in better shape than when they found it. They were nice, personable, and friendly.

We had a problem with our furnace right after the clean and check, but they came out and fixed it, but we were a little afraid because the problem had come up so quickly. The pricing and product for the new equipment was not what we wanted, so we switched to a new vendor.

I wasn't sure if the problem I was having with my furnace was major or not. When the service technician came out I was afraid this might be a major repair. After inspecting the equipment he made some minor adjustments, reminded us to change the air filter more often, then said we were good to go. I was thrilled that he didn't make it a bigger job than it needed to be. Thanks Kaplan Heating.

Came promptly. Even though it was a unit the technician had not worked on previously, was able to figure out the problem. It did require two visits, as he initially got the furnace working, but it stopped again in a few hours. On the second visit he realized that the unit had to be taken apart to be cleaned more deeply than originally thought. Pricing was very fair, considering the amount of time he put in.

I had a new air conditioning system installed in my home by Al Kaplan Heating and Air. He did quality work for me, and the pricing he gave me was fair and reasonable. I have used his services a few times already, and I would use him again.
