+ -1 moreCapitol installed the 19 EFCO windows incorrectly. In freezing weather, my windows iced over on the frames, and sweated water constantly. EFCO (a reputable manufacturer) had to send out their own technician to disassemble one of the 19 windows to diagnose the problem. EFCO then issued a letter, which outlined the failures on behalf of Capitol Glass. These failures included several omitted steps specified in the EFCO instruction manual that Capitol Glass simply did not do. Capitol also ignored my requests to ensure that my telescoping glass system was thermally broken. I was lied to by their sales staff when I asked if the FLEETWOOD system was rated for Chicago's cold weather: "Yes, I have checked on that and it is fine", I was told. Overall, they are a terrible company who has refused to try at all to rectify my problems. We will be litigating with them shortly. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHADY OPERATION.
Description of Work: Capitol Glass installed 19 EFCO thermally broken windows on my site, and 4 "telescoping" sliding glass door systems made by FLEETWOOD. The specifications given to them required that all systems were to be thermally broken, so that the aluminum frames did not condense in the cold chicago winters. Capitol failed to install the EFCO products correctly, as diagnosed by an EFCO technician. Capitol also ordered the FLEETWOOD systems, which were not rated for Chicago winters. These windows also failed when it got cold out, due to not being thermally broken at all. Capitol has abandoned my job, has refused to try and fix the issue or compensate me in any way for their multiple failures.
