Staff and Physicians are all terrific. very thorough and they take as much time as you need to listen to you where some other offices rush you in and out like cattle with only a minute or two to ask questions. Love them!!! even referred my daughters to them...thy are very satisfied as well

I always ask for the referral for my mammogram before I see the doctor.  She had the information in front of her to discuss.  Then we proceed to the pap smear, blood draw etc.  Dr. Yockey was the first physician that I saw when I moved from the Western Suburbs to the Northwest Suburbs.  She is down to earth and always takes her time with her patients.  She is willing to discuss the pro and cons of any procedure.  She recommended me to other physicians in the area.

My husband and I conceived our son via IVF w/ICSI at an outside fertility clinic. I chose Dr. Yockey based on the fact that she was a DO rather than an MD, and she had 2 midwives on staff. I desired to have as natural a birth as possible even though the birth would take place in a hospital setting. I am giving Dr. Yockey an "F" overall b/c my birth experience with her was truly horrible. To this day, I am emotionally scarred from the experience. I believe that my son's multiple health problems MAY be the result of some of the procedures that Dr. Yockey insisted on during the prenatal period and during L and D. Each year, around the time of my son's birthday, I have symptoms of PTSD (birth nightmares, inability to function for a day etc.). As a healthcare provider myself (prior to the birth of my son), I have compassion for Dr. Yockey. The lawsuits against OBs are out of control in the state of IL. At the time of my son's birth, I do not believe that Dr. Yockey had the necessary support systems in place for her to function appropriately in her role as an OB in this stressful environment. Dr. Yockey was the only physician in her office who was licensed/qualified to perform c-sections. In my opinion, she "cracked" professionally when I refused an amniotomy (artificial breaking of the amniotic sac); it was at this point that she told me the actual amount that she was paying for malpractice insurance. (This should only be discussed with her colleagues; it should NEVER be discussed with patients.) She also became very nasty to me and threatened to send me home after I had been at the hospital for at least 16 hours (after induction was started with above mentioned medicines). I provided Dr. Yockey with WRITTEN instructions several weeks prior to the birth that I did not want my water broken artificially. Even though OBs are practicing in a lawsuit friendly environment in IL, it by no means excuses Dr. Yockey's behavior. I believe that it was documented on the fertility clinic's paperwork that both my husband and I are Rh- bloodtype. In this situation, there is no need for the mother to have the RhoGAM shot during PG. Dr. Yockey and Nicole Quigley put enormous pressure on me to have the RhoGAM shot during the 28th week of my PG, so I had the shot, which possibly contributed to my son's chronic health conditions. (There is a published double blind study that demonstrates that children whose mothers had the Rhogam shot during pregnancy have a higher rate of autism. I cannot provide a link to the study here b/c it is against AL's rules.) In my records with Dr. Yockey, it is written boldly at the top of the front page that I am a survivor of sexual abuse. Dr. Yockey did not seem to have any concept of how my history would complicate my experience with childbirth on an emotional level. (It has been documented that 1 in 3 females have an unwanted sexual experience prior to the age of 18, so OBs should familiarize themselves with the emotional affects that survivors of abuse experience during L and D. Much of it has to do with feeling in control over what is happening to one's body.) My age at the time of my son's birth (39 y/o) was a factor in the timing of the induction of my son's birth. Another factor, I found out while I was on the post-partum unit, is that the L and D unit was booked with scheduled inductions a few days after I was induced. (It has been documented that a woman's first time pregnancy lasts a few days beyond 41 weeks.) Dr. Yockey gave me a 25% chance of delivering vaginally a few days prior to the induction. I am not sure if she was attempting to communicate to me that she wanted to do a planned c-section; if that is what she was trying to communicate, she should have stated it plainly rather than using "hints" or predictions. She may have been surprised at my response. My son is now 4 years old. He suffers from severe GI problems (malabsorption issues, has had diarrhea for 3.5 years of his life, eats very little solid food, and is officially categorized at "failure to thrive" on conventional growth charts). My son also has toxic encephalopathy, which I believe occurred from a genetic predisposition and from the drugs and procedures that were done during the pre-natal period and during L and D. (He has never been vaccinated. I also blame ARTs for possibly having an effect on his health.) My life consists of "getting my son well". This includes visits to out of state specialists and MDs who we have to pay for out of pocket. I do not necessarily blame Dr. Yockey for my son's problems, but I do believe that the practices of conventional OBs in this country is not producing healthy babies anymore. Some of the practices are harming them. OBs need to to realize that the embryo/fetus inside the mother may have a genetic predisposition to certain disorders, and that the drugs and practices that they use with the mother MAY result in a lifetime of disability for the child and enormous emotional consequences for the entire family. If you desire a highly medicalized birth or a surgical birth, I highly recommend Dr. Ranae Yockey. If you desire a pregnancy and L and D that is absent of medicines and artificial procedures, please chose another care provider. Dr. Yockey does have a great bedside manner in the clinic setting. The midwife that I had, Nicole Yockey, is really a "med-wife". Nicole was very supportive of me during my entire pregnancy and childbirth experience. For me, my experience with Dr. Yockey as my care provider, is one that was so horrible and devastating to my son and myself, that I have still not recovered from it 4 years later.
