The ONLY tool that belongs in my toolbox is a phone with a handyman?s number programmed in the speed dial. However as a man, I want to be more of a do-it-yourselfer and also need to watch costs while keeping up with home maintenance.
DIY was a great solution for me. They came in and showed me several steps, oversaw that I was doing them correctly, and then left. This allowed me to continue the work without them "on the clock". I would finish a portion of the project and they would return to check my work, and show me the next several steps. This continued until the project was done.
To be honest, there were many times I asked myself 'what was I doing?' But DIY was encouraging and their oversight and expertise gave me the confidence that my work was being done correctly and thus I continued. When I finished the project, I looked on with a sense of pride at what I had accomplished and began looking for future projects to have them teach and help me with.
I recommend this the anyone looking to learn basic to moderate home maintenance. They are patient and complete and encouraging. My only suggestion is that they carry a hole punch of some sort, my man card needs the physical validating I now feel.

Todd was excellent! He looked at our current basement situation (seapage and mold) and gave us several options, ideas and referrals to fixing the problem ourselves. I felt educated and more clear on the next steps. He helped sort things out.
