They're very nice to work with. The guy's professional; I don't know how many people he has working for him, but he's professional, fair priced. good service, and prompt; pretty much A across the board with this guy. When I've met him in the past, he's very professional, courteous, and prompt. He does a good job and knows what he's talking about, so I'd give the guy A's.

He was timely, very friendly, and very competent. The workman doing the work also was very friendly and they just did a very good job in installing a good air conditioner. I needed to call them up again to do a check on my air conditioner so I could turn in on.

My old central air conditioner was only 6 years old but had been a constant source of frustration. Every summer it would lose cooling power due to a Puron leak that my old HVAC contractor refused to diagnose and repair properly. I finally got fed up with the old HVAC company and decided to look around for a new contractor who was trustworthy and conscientious about doing great work. It may sound counterintuitive, but in this difficult economy I decided the best HVAC contractor for me would be a smaller one. My experience with a large HVAC contractor taught me one important thing -- it is nearly impossible to locate the "buck stops here" person at the large companies. They will send a marketing person to show you glossy materials when you first ask for estimates, but you'll never see that person again. They'll send hired installers to install your unit, but odds are the installers don't work directly for the contractor. You'll probably never see them again either. When you service your unit, you'll see yet another technician. If problems arise, you'll get the runaround at the central office telephone number you call. I got tired of being treated like a number and decided to find a small HVAC contractor who would treat me like a real person. After getting a number of estimates, I chose Countryview Heating & Cooling Group from Hampshire. The owner Brent was punctual, polite, and eager to answer all my questions. While looking at my air conditioner and furnace he noticed that my furnace humidifier had been poorly installed and had been leaking onto my air conditioner coils. Brent suggested that I replace it at the same time that he installed the air conditioner. While some readers might jump to the conclusion that this was "upselling", the fact of the matter is that Brent's recommendation went further than what any other HVAC contractor had ever mentioned. He proposed moving the humidifier location from the outbound duct to the inbound duct. This was no easy task, since the inbound duct was located only inches from the wall of a cedar closet in my basement. Brent went above and beyond the call of duty by cutting out a panel in the side of the cedar closet. His admirable carpentry work allowed him to install the humidifier on the inbound duct and provides easy access to the humidifier now that it has been properly placed. My old HVAC company had never mentioned (and probably never considered) moving the location of the humidifier. This small act on Brent's part really impressed me. Brent also did a masterful job installing my air conditioning unit. It's been running fine -- no Puron leaks or problems of any kind are evident. I intend to stick with Countryview Heating & Cooling Group for all my future heating and cooling needs. I strongly recommend them to any members in the Elgin area.
