The first week went well, walls and floor joists were put in and we thought he was doing an ok job so far. Then no one shows up the second week. We called him and no answer, we left messages and still no answer. The 3rd week rolls around and workers show up for a few days. Then nothing. We keep calling Tom Ungrund but he does not answer our calls. At the end of the month not much more is completed. So I did something stupid and sent him a partial payment thinking maybe thats what he is wanting and maybe he would show up again to work if he was paid. It worked, he came for 2 days. I asked what was going on why it was taking so long and he has nothing to say. Nothing! 2nd month rolls by, not much progress, a worker here and there shows up and still Tom Ungrund does not answer our phone calls. I did something stupid again and sent him another partial payment! Workers came for a few more days. Finally after 3 MONTHS, they are somewhat finished. The work is horrible but we are so upset it took so long and past ready to have these rooms completed we don't bother to call him since he won't answer our phone calls anyway. Rooms are painted, furniture moved in etc. But then we start seeing all the shoddy workmanship, floors that creak everywhere!, drywall tape coming off the wall, walls are not smooth, screw heads, seams etc can be seen and trim pieces are missing. Also the back door was not installed properly. It looks very non professional. We are very disappointed in all of. Now we are remodeling these rooms again ourselves and we are doing a better job than the so called professional home builder/remodeler Tom Ungrund.
Description of Work: Ungrund Construction Co. (Tom Ungrund ) was hired by my husband and I to convert an attached garage into 2 bedrooms and full bath. Also a back door was installed. We were told it would take approximately 3 weeks to complete and his estimate was the best of 3 bids. He also said he could start right away. We did not ask for referrals.
