One of the best contractors I've hired for any project - mostly due to impeccable service. They communicated everything clearly, stuck to their schedule, had good ideas with the design, competitive pricing, and great quality of work. Highly recommend!

We contacted Peckhart Landscapers about two weeks ago after searching for a landscaper on a local neighborhood app. Seeing that they were overwhelmingly recommended on that app and on Angie's list, we called them, and they arrived fewer than 48 hours later to assess our needs and draw up an estimate. We gave very vague parameters of wanting a curvy, clay paver patio and an integrated shade garden under a large, nearby maple tree. Again, fewer than 48 hours later, we were emailed a digital image of our actual house with a lifelike view of their plan. We loved it and were given a drawing and price quote within 24 hours. We asked, if we chose to go with them, how long it would take to begin the project and were told that if the weather held out, it could begin by the end of the month. They arrived on March 19, and the entire project was completed by March 23. It's crazy to think that something we dreamed of doing for many years could be completed in such a short period of time. We were thrilled by Peckhart Landscaping's professionalism, promptness and speed, as well as by the extremely fair price we were charged for their services. We would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them!

It went extremely well. Brennan and his crew arrived early. He emailed me 2 days prior to let me know that they were coming. Brennan went over the project with my husband and I before they started. We also talked about some additional things we could consider to improve the drainage in our yard. Brennan offered some suggestions and advised that we wait and observe what happens the next time it rains before deciding on any additional work. Brennan is extremely polite and he and the crew were very hard working. Creating the dry creek bed involved moving several large wheel barrels of soil which they moved from my yard to my driveway. Clean-up was excellent. The job took about 3 hours. I can't comment on the pricing since I wasn't able to get a comparative estimate despite calling 3 other firms. That said, I am happy with the work and would definitely hire Brennan again.

Brennan came out, understood exactly what I wanted, drew it up and installed it better than I could ever hope for and a very reasonable price.

Wow! I picked the right landscaping company! Peckhart gets an across-the-board "A" from me. Due to difficult access, we had permission to use my neighbor's property to remove the wall. Gary made sure everything was covered with tarps and the ground/pathways covered with plywood. Gary took before and after pictures to show no damage. He was easy to deal with, professional, communicated at all the right points, and did a truly outstanding job. He was on site the entire time making e last minute adjustments very easy. I highly recommend Peckhart Landscaping.

We are contracting with Peckhart for work to be done in the coming weeks.

Fantastic! We had Peckhart Landscaping redesign and put in our back patio late last year (separate review), which was and still is great! The landscaping was our next task this year. We asked Gary and Brennan to design flowered gardens and plants for our front, sides and back yard. They took our ideas, developed a responsive plan, refined the plan based on more ideas from us, and then put in all the plants, flowers, back yard sodding as we requested. We have now seen the results flourish over the last 3 months, and are positively delighted! All work was done on time, on budget, and they made sure we were happy with all the details. It's 3 months later, and the plants continue to grow and flower in even surprisingly great ways. Highly recommended!

Great. They gave a design that was exactly what we had talked about. Communication was great throughout the whole project. We had another company doing concrete work and Peckhart worked around the completion of that. They ripped all our old stuff out in a day and had the new installed in about two days. Everything looks great and is just what we wanted. Would definitely recommend.

The whole project went great, and exceeded our expectations.  Their listening to our desires and giving us a design better than we had been thinking ourselves excited us.  They worked through with stone options, giving us their point of view and also tailoring to our specific desires.  Their execution was great.  Gary and/'or Brennan were present on site every day.  With a house with 140 years, some unexpected things come up that we could not anticipate, and Gary and Brennan consistently adapted, improved our situation and were great at working with us.  They did the whole job great, and only billed us the initial final cost estimate. I admire their service.  We are hungry to hire them again for next spring's landscaping we now want.  They are the epitome of excellent personalized service and expert workmanship.

Brendan could not have been more attentive to our requests.  We were unsure as to what exactly we wanted and he was very patient throughout the process and helped with some decisions as well.  He, and his team, were always on time, very polite, and did a great job. I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

Second time we used them.  Job was very well done.  They worked in really bad weather for the entire day.  Everything they did looks great.

I have used Peckhart for all of my landscaping and snow removal.  They had to clean up a mess the Builder left us.  They did an awesome job.

Did a great job.  Had a minor issue with a brick that became unglue.  They immediately came out to fix it.  Great service no issues.

Having had an excellent experience with Peckhart Landscaping during the construction of my backyard patio, I contracted them again to handle a joint project between me and my neighbor. Our respective back yards were separated by a area of weeds, tree stumps and brush and we decided to eliminate this eyesore and replace it with sod thus giving us a continuous sweep of lawn. This would make it similar to the rest of our subdivision which has no fencing between the lots and gives a spacious look to the neighborhood. I also wanted a new raised bed garden in the same area. In addition, there was a wet area where the corners of the two properties joined and we wished to control this as much as possible.
Peckhart's solution to the wet area was to dig a dry well, about two feet deep, filled with river stone. On top of this he added topsoil and built the raised bed garden around it. Thus, excess water would fill the pit where it would gradually be absorbed, but there would still be plenty of moisture for the garden. Other areas were filled in with additional topsoil and sodded. They also replaced a dying tree in my front yard.
Two weeks after the initial meeting with Peckhart to discuss the project, the crew arrived one morning at 8:00 a.m. and began to work. By 2:00 p.m. the next day, the entire project was completed. This was despite bitter wind chills in the 'teens and light snow showers. Either one or both Gary and Brennen Peckhart, the owners, were always on site. As expected, the work was meticulous. They even took time to inspect the patio they had built for me nearly two years ago and made minor repairs on one of the retaining walls, all at no charge.
Both my neighbor and I are delighted with the results. Once again, I would heartily recommend Peckhart Landscaping to anyone in the western suburbs of Chicago because of their superb work and fair pricing.

From the very first contact Mr Peckhart was very professional, we knew we needed to build a retaining wall in our backyard and it was his suggestion to build a terraced one to add greater stability but also for the visual effect .  His son Brennan sent a quote with a picture rendition of what the wall would look like using photos that his father had taken.  This really helped hugely.  We actually decided to go with a versaloc brick and add some steps as the total length is 50ft, and again the updated picture renditions really helped.  
When we called to give the go ahead Mr Peckhart came around again, just to go over the fine points of the plan and they scheduled to come in in two weeks.  The weekend before they started it rained all weekend and my yard was waterlogged (why I'm having lots of drainage stuff done) but sure enough on Monday morning Brennan and his crew where at my house taking out the old concrete pad from a former porch and laying in drainage ditches etc.  These guys are fantastic, each day they cleared up after themselves which must have been hard to do with all the mud.  
We also had lots of water draining into our yard by our garage so Brennan and his crew removed some diet and have created a swale to direct the water away and to the back of our yard.  They finished off by bringing in new soil, grading and seeding and generally clearing up.
The terraced wall is fantastic and the addition of the steps into it really makes it special.  The patio they laid at the top level looks lovely and we are already enjoying sitting out on it during the last of the nice days.  We are completely thrilled with how this whole project looks now its completed.  Im telling everyone its the nicest part of our house!!  These guys worked their magic and My husband and I couldn't be happier.  We would definately use them again - in fact for the front of the house next!

Last year, Peckhart Landscaping installed a new patio at our residence. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that several of the stones at the edge of the patio were loose and had sunk, due to the unusually heavy rains of the last few weeks. I contacted them to see if they could make repairs. The next day a crew was out inspecting the entire patio and began to repair the pavers. Unfortunately, another heavy storm developed, but they continued to work through the downpour until it finally became too wet to continue; but four days later they returned to cement the remaining blocks into place. The did not charge me for this work, even though over a year had passed since the original installation.
This, to me, is an outstanding example of customer service which few companies could match. I strongly recommend Peckhart Landscaping for a Super Service Award for 2014.

Gary and Brennan seem like nice enough guys.  However, I would say they were seriously lacking in their professionalism.  Requested an estimate and was told I'd have it within a few days.  Two weeks later I had to follow up. Gary called me right away then, but still no estimate.  Communication and responsiveness were quite disappointing, and wound up wasting a lot of my time.

They were very prompt in coming out, and they gave me a discount because they were in the area. They were very quick. We had not left our home in a couple of days, because there was 2 or 3 feet of snow, and there was ice build up on the curb. They did the job in under an hour, and they let me know when they were leaving, and we checked out the work. They did pretty good. They had 3 or 4 guys out.

This is the second time I have hired this company for stone landscaping. Brennan and his crew were excellent again! Brennan was always on time, answered all my questions, returned all phone calls promptly, cleaned up all areas between work days. The quality of work was extremely well done! I would hire them again.
