East Grove Builders

The experience with East Grove Builders was outstanding. I always hear horror stories about major renovations with contractors that don?t do a good job and costs that balloon out of control. None of this happened during our kitchen renovation. Ed Weidman (the owner of East Grove Builders) gave us a fixed labor price and we reimbursed him for all material costs. Given the large size of the project it was nice to have a fixed price on labor for budgeting purposes. Ed was happy to bill hourly to, but we preferred have a fixed price. Most of the large material items we purchased on our own (i.e. appliances, cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc.) There were a few small additional labor items (less than $200 total) for additional things we wanted done outside of the original agreement. Ed does all the work with his son (Zack) and they do everything from cabinets, flooring, electrical, plumbing?you name it, they know how to do it. It?s great because it?s the same two guys in your house all the time and my wife and I both work, so that was a big plus for us. The only thing that was subcontracted was the drywall. Ed knows how to do it, but he has a subcontractor that specializes in drywall and can do it much more efficiently. Ed is outstanding about cleaning up after himself. The place was always is great shape when we came home each night. Ed and his son are both very easy to talk to and are not pushy with their opinions on how to do things. However, if you are looking for an opinion or if something you want done makes no sense Ed always seems to have a good alternative or better idea. Most contractors I?ve worked with are very pushy with the attitude ?I?m the expert here,? so it?s great having someone that actually tries to work with your ideas. In terms of price, Ed was competitive. We had three bids and Ed was in the ball park with the other bids. The quality of his work was outstanding. Ed has an eye for detail and has over 30 years of experience which clearly shows. My cabinet and countertop guy was very impressed and said even the things like crown molding, where minor flaws are usually present, were flawless. Ed only works on one main job at a time, so you get his full attention which is critical in my opinion. Ed almost always answered whenever I called and if he was not around he returned my call promptly. Ed and Zack always showed up when Ed said they would and always let us know if there was a day he was not going to come by. Ed and Zack are professionals to the truest sense. The quality and service has been the best I?ve had by a contractor and I?m thankful for it since getting our kitchen done has been our largest project to date. I would definitely recommend him and plan to use Ed and Zack for any future projects.
