So, my one room of carpet would cost $60 instead of the $25 advertised. Since the individual making the decision was desperate to get it done, we scheduled the service anyway. (PS: I kept a printout of the ad.)
Well, when they got there... just barely within their time window ... they brought everything in and hooked it up and then said they had to collect the fee prior to starting. BUT, now it was going to be $70!!! They said that they needed to charge for travel time in addition to the rest. We told them, "No way!," that $60 was unfair, but we did agree to it on the phone. But, that was as far as it was going to go. They backed down from their "travel time charge" and agreed to do the work for the $60 since they had already set up, but they didn't move anything ... my tenant did all of the furniture moving. They had to be prodded to stain treat and they didn't put anything under the furniture legs to prevent bleed thru or rust marks, we had to do that after they left. Overall, I"d have to say it was NOT worth the money. I learned a lesson though and in the future I will have any service like that send me a price quote, or price sheet via email prior to the date of service.
Once done, I pointed out two small mustard stains. He poked at them with a finger then ignored them. The loveseat was displaced but not the sofa. I asked 'did you clean behind the sofa?' He said 'yes'. I moved the sofa after they left and it was dirty and bone-dry.
I called the company immediately and told the answerer about the missed area and the lie. He said he was out of the office and would find out 'what happened'.
