Really well. They ran into some unexpected complications with the way the house had been previously wired but they corrected the issues and did a great job completing the project as requested and as quoted.

A four lamp fluorescent fixture in our basement utility room had two
flickering middle lights. I bought two replacement lamps and attempted
to replace them myself. It was much harder to do then I expected. Had to
remove all four lamps in order to replace the middle two. While changing the
lamps, I broke one of the connectors, heard a crackling sound and
everything went dark. OK time to get expert help.
I searched Angie's List, found Norb and Sons Electric highly rated and
decided to give them a call. They were great! I called on a Tuesday with
an appointment scheduled for Thursday at 9:00 AM. Mike, the
electrician, arrived on time, was polite, courteous and appeared very
capable. He replaced the broken connector and replaced the lamps. The
middle two barely lit and flickered. He diagnosed the problem as a bad
transformer (the unit had two, one for the outside lamps and one for the
middle two). He replaced both with a new single energy efficient
transformer which is able to handle all four lamps. The price included
the four new energy efficient lamps as well! He was done before 10:00
AM, cleaned the work area and removed the old electronics for recycling.
I could not ask for better service. I will definitely use them again!

Norb and Sons impressed me from the start by answering the phone right away and sending out an electrician very quickly. The electrician quickly implemented a temporary fix to make things safe and clearly and professionally explained what should be done to fix the problem permanently. The invoice for the emergency call and fix came in the mail a few days later along with a quote for the permanent fix and an optional whole house surge protector that I had asked about adding. The quote was reasonable and included a discount on the already reasonable emergency call if I chose to have Norb and Sons do the job.
My calls to Norb and Sons with questions about the quote and ultimately to schedule the work were answered immediately every time and all return calls, from Mike who is one of the Sons, were made when promised. The work was scheduled within two weeks of the emergency call and Mike was able to schedule the appointment working around my kids school drop off times. He arrived on time and finished the job in the time he estimated even while giving me some options and explaining everything he was doing in as much detail as I desired while remaining professional throughout. His work was neat and everything now works correctly and most importantly is safe again.
My only complaint about Norb and Sons Electric is that they charge a 5% fee if you want to pay by credit card. But to their credit they are very flexible on the payment terms and easy to work with to arrange other forms of payment.

The people who work for this company know exactly what they're doing. They're friendly. Give estimates. Care for their customers. Work steadily and don't stop until the job is complete and explain what needs to be done. I feel confident in recommending this company to my family and friends.

I called Norb and Sons to get an outlet changed from 220 to 110 for an upcoming gas stove installation. They answered when I called, which is great and were able to come out the next day to complete this service! They made the change quickly and also answered several questions I had about other small electrical work I wanted done. I'm having that quoted and look forward to working with then again!

Norb and Sons were recommended by my HAVC contractor. I called and gave them a brief explanation of what needed to be done. I sent them an email with a more detailed explanation. Shortly after, I got a call from Tom with a quote. I called the office back and scheduled an appointment. There electrician came out and was right on time. He had all the need breakers to make the replacements. He explained what he was going to do, then completed the job.
Great company to work with. Would recommend them to anyone.

-Our power goes out often. We are on a bad grid and need a generator to run our two sump pumps during a storm.
-Called 3 highly rated firms off of Angie's List. All firms came out promptly and submitted written estimates (I love you Angie).
-Norb's was not the least expensive (and I was not looking for that). They did convince me that they were the best to deal with the always unpleasant experience of dealing with the nightmare that is the Mt Prospect Division.
-Tom came out and surveyed the place. He thought getting a permit to install the generator on the side of the house was dicey, but they'd give it a try. They took care of all interaction with the village.
-Tom also pointed out that our old electric service was fraying and we may run into probleems when we sold the house (I had been thinking that for years). He gave us a very reaonable quote for this and we agreed to get everything done at once.
-The decision from the Spanish Inquisition that masquerades as the the Mt P building division came back negative, so Tom came out, and we decided on a spot in theback yard. They went back to the village and got the OK.
--Installation was flawless.
--Quality of work was excellent.
--Inspectors had no problem with Norb's work, but the did find prblems with some existing wiring in the house (gee, who could have predicted that) and Norb's dealt with it.
--Norb's office staff and follow up were top notch.
Hire them!

My oxygen machine was plugged in and I thought there was maybe too much plugged in. He told me that wasn't the case, and that the oxygen machine being plugged in to the same circuit as one of my air conditioners was causing the problem. All he had to do was unplug a couple things to test what was wrong. The problem is that I was told he would come out and give us a free estimate. He said he apologized but they don't give free estimates and I owed him $115. He pulled the oxygen machine out into the living room and plugged it in there and everything was fine. So, all he had to do was move the oxygen machine to a different outlet. I'm glad he fixed it but I feel like I was over charged.

We have worked with Norb and Sons for about twenty years. They have done big work (new breaker box and supply) and small along with everything in between. In the very rare instance that they make a mistake they stand behind their work. The work is high quality and professional.
We should say that our positive experiences are not unique. Whomever we have referred to Norb and Sons has been happy with their work and courtesy. This is a family firm with traditional values.

On our latest project, Tom reviewed the job and gave us a written estimate. When we were ready to start the assigned crew of two electricians preformed the work as planned. The job needed to be done in two phases, with the second phase occurring after we had other contractors in to do their part (drywall and painting.) When we were ready to complete phase 2, Norb and Sons fit us into their schedule and completed the job quickly.

We have used Norb and Sons many times for other electrical projects; installing a new circuit breakers, new outlets, new electrical service to our garage; new bathroom lighting dining room lighting. I have used them for work at my office. They are honest, responsive, fair and knowledgeable, and they are our and quot;go to guysand quot; for all things electrical.

The key with Norb and Sons was they a) have a human that answers their phone and b) were here faster than I expected anyone would be able to respond. If anyone comes to the house I expect to pay a service fee and their's was well within reason. I am glad that I have now found a responsive eletrician so that next time something goes wrong I will only have to contact one place and I know there will be a human on the other end of the line when I call.

I contacted several firms for estimates installing a backup generator. Norb and Sons were quick to respond and put together an estimate, and were also one of the most reasonably priced. I went with Norb partly because of my experience with the estimate, etc. , and partly because I've used them before and they're always responsive - I know they'll show up if there's any problem. They did an excellent job with the installation, performed it in a timely fashion, and were available for the inspector when needed. I've always been pleased with their service.

We have used them for many years. They are extremely reliable. The price is always more than fair. There have been a couple of times where we have had competing quotes or have compared the price that our neighbors paid for some of their jobs, and we found that we have always paid the least of anyone who has had some kind of work done. I would rate them highly and would use them in the future.

My call was answered promptly. Tom came out the next day, but he discovered that there were missing parts for the ceiling fan. He did as much as possible with the fan without these parts; then he checked the attic fan and determined that it had to be replaced. He called the next day with a price for the new exhaust fan and set up a time to finish the job (about 2 days later). He picked up the missing parts for the ceiling fan, so I didn't have to bother. The job was actually completed ahead of the time agreed upon.

I was pleased. They were great. They gave an estimate initially. I took some time to hunt down the fixtures, I needed. They were prompt. They came when they said they were and they cleaned up. They were good about explaining things, as well.

They were excellent. Mike showed up when he said. Replaced the box in less time than originally estimated and then lowered (his already low bid) bill due to the speed of the job. We have already asked them to quote several other small projects in the house.
