I finally got fed up with AT&T, wanted to cancel my phone service and use VOIP. Altho it may be possible to get plain DSL from AT&T I was never able to work my way thru their automated systems to find out how to do this, nor how much it would cost, nor whether any prices they quote me might change soon after. I found Interlync thru BroadBandReports, where they had good reviews, and I see they have one review, good but old, here on Angie's. So I contacted Interlync, and they established service in July 2013. Installation involved them shipping me a modem, then a third party, I think it was Covad, sent an installer, then activation was done remotely by Interlync. I paid an installation fee and paid for the modem (got a partial rebate check some months later). My data is still traveling over the AT&T wire. I do not recall the exact amount of the installation fee, but my monthly charge has remained at $60 since installation. The activation was a bit difficult, and the Interlync tech stayed on the phone with me for over an hour while we got it set up (the problem turned out to be a conflict between the modem they supplied and the router I already had, which was easily resolved once the tech figured it out). Since then, over a year, I have had little occasion to contact Interlync as everything has been mostly smooth. There was a difficulty yesterday which I was never able to figure out whether it was due to Interlync or something on my end, but Interlync responded quickly to my query and normal service is now restored. Internet service in the USA is an embarrassment, and I live in a remote area, where DSL service is unavoidably poor (and I guess it is inherent in the technology that we have occasional brief failures during storms). But within these limitations I am pleased with Interlync. One more thing: The Interlync user agreement/terms of service is relatively brief and reasonable.

I switched from AT&T because of the horrible customer service I was getting. Although Interlync is more expensive the customer service is very good. I had my first issue that I needed to contact Interlync. Kevin was very easy to work with and helped me resolve the issue. Not only was Kevin easy to work with, he also called me the next day to check in to make sure everything was working fine.
