Dave is a guy who is passionate about trees - about how to take care of them and how to save them. He was the first person to raise my awareness about how the villages in my area were only talking about allowing the Emerald Ash Borer to destroy all the trees in the area instead of educating homeowners about their ability to save the trees. He came out to my home, told me about a simple treatment for my Ash Tree and has treated it each year reliably. (he has also guarded the health of my other smaller trees periodically)

Many ash have been needlessly lost due to this campaign of misinformation promulgated by municipalities where leaders have preferred a 'final solution' to the EAB problem instead of allowing homeowners to decide the fate of their trees. I thank Dave for helping educate me - he is an expert in trees of all varieties, but he knows more about EAB than anyone around, including the folks at the Arboretum. I had one really nice big tree in my yard - it was an ash. Wilmette village sent out a bunch of dire warning about how we should all be prepared to have our ash trees mulched or made into baseball bats since we were at ground zero for the emerald ash borer infestation. Dave came right out and explained that losing the tree was NOT going to happen - not on his watch! He has treated it each year for three years, as well as the other ash trees on our block and they are all going to make it. Mine is beautiful because we caught it early. Dave loves trees and fights for their quality of life - I have learned a lot about trees from Dave since he is always glad to give you information and helpful tips about keeping your trees healthy and happy.

He does enough research to serve the tree and the environment as a whole, and I really respect that. He came recommended by the local Parks and Forestry Department. He is generous with information and led me to websites to find out more information. He is not all about money, like some services are.

Dave Clanton of Clanton Tree came out about five years ago to treat my remaining river birch for chlorosis. (Even tho he is based out of DeKalb, he was happy to come to my place in Naperville.) The treatment lasts for 5 years and the tree has been fine during that time. Dave would come out periodically to check on things. He would re-treat at no charge if necessary. Well, the 5 years were up and the birch's leaves were looking a little yellow this year, so I asked Dave to come out again to re-treat. The cost was $165. He has a new treatment system now which he says will be even more effective. This guy really loves trees. I totally trust Dave with my river birch.
