We had an excellent experience working with Perl Mortgage. We're cost-conscious and shopped multiple mortgage lenders for rates and fees before deciding on 3 to contact. We stopped the process with one lender due to poor reviews with the BBB and continued with Perl and the other. The difference in working with the two was miles apart.
We were aware of the cost of multiple appraisals but given our circumstance, getting more than one made sense. Perl had an appraiser contact us the day the application was submitted, while the other lender took 5 days to assign an appraiser. The representatives we worked with at Perl, primarily Betsy, were responsive to inquiries and very professional. Betsy knew the answers to most of our questions and those she didn't she followed up on promptly.
Underwriting took about two weeks after the appraisal was complete and all documentation was compiled, a reasonable length of time in our view. Last but not least, Perl's refinancing costs were significantly lower than any other lender we contacted. We closed last week (at home) with no problems. If you are looking to refinance, I would always recommend shopping around, but assuming the rates and fees are comparable, I would absolutely recommend choosing Perl for service, speed and professionalism.
Also, if you do refinance, for submitting mortgage documentation, I recommend utilizing dropbox.com or a similar service. This is a service that allows you to share documentation securely through the cloud, which eliminates concerns about either 1) postage and mail delays, or 2) using e-mail and potentially compromising the security of your personal information.

Excellent. Deanna is so professional and had the best rates we could find. She was way better than the competition. She was exactly on her good faith estimate. In the past, we have had issues with mortgage brokers, but our experience with Deanna was perfect. She was great. She is in the suburbs, but I am in the city. We handled everything over the phone, so it was very easy!
