He charged me $180 for something he did that made it unusable and said he will come back with a part that he needed to order.  I have called several times to about this and have been told he will look into it and now it has been weeks and nothing at all!!

I have used Booth Plumbing in the past and never imagined I would get ripped off, the way we did by this Deerfield company. I was never quoted a price to replace the water heater.  Mistake #1.  I asked if tank-less model would be cheaper and was told it would be at least three times as much and they do not last any longer.  Mistake #2.  I mentioned I saw Home Depot sells a 75 gallon tank for between $7-800.  He told me he doesn't use those model because they are inferior (GE?) Mistake #3.  Upon completion of installation, I received a bill for $2,500.  I was billed for the water heater (A.O. Smith FCG-75) $1,300.  Two on-line supply companies list same product for between $832.99-900 ( Pex.Supply.com). Labor!  I was charged double the going (northshore) rate for labor $220/hour for 4.5 hours. $990 total.  I was not home, so it is impossible to know for sure the actual time. Chuck Booth's explanation was he needed someone there to move the water heater.  I agreed, but he did not need to be there the entire time. Maybe the 1/2 hour it would take to move the old one out and bring the new one in!  I had even suggested I could help move the water heater(s), but he said no. I suggested he could/should have sent him on another job, he said he only had one truck, so he couldn't?  I asked how much the tank'less model would have cost, he told me $3000 more!   Tank-less option was according to him between $5,500-7,500.  That quote is so far out-of-line, I have realized our bill is also!
* Note. There was nothing special or difficult about this installation.  Nothing needed to be retrofitted and only new unions/vent were installed
The up-charge for the new water heater was expected, but certainly not in the neighborhood of $400-500.  The labor charge double the going rate is unacceptable and unscrupulous.  I have talked with 3 other companies (Ravinia/Pasquesi/Calabrese.  All three have confirmed our guess of between $800-1000 over-billed!
I will never use this company again.  I live in the community and will do all I can to make sure anyone else I know doesn?t use them.  I sent a letter to Chuck Booth (1-22-14) sharing my concerns and letting him know both BBB (NOT a BBB Member) and Angie's List would be contacted.  To date he has yet to respond.  That after insisting to be paid (IN FULL) the same day.

My family live in Lincolnshire. My ejector pump in the basement bathroom was broken, so we called chuck. He came in within 30 minutes and replaced with a brand new one with very reasonable price. All the work was done very quickly and professionally.
Several days later, he came back with Pat to seal the cap of the new ejector pump. Our garbage disposal happened to be not working then, so Chuck and Pat checked the mixer and found something is jamming it. They got rid of that chunk and tested until they made sure the disposal was back to order. And they charge nothing for all what they have done this day.
We highly appreciate Chuck and Pat's professional work which solve our problems right on spot and with reasonable price in timely manner too. We highly recommend his team on any plumbing and related problems!

So smoothly there were no "details" but best of all there were no surprises or costly additional expenses.

Overall, the experience has been excellent! They've been very responsive. They provide an estimate and are very accurate, so there aren't usually any big surprises. I've recommended them to others!

Booth plumbing is my house plumber. They are great. I have used them several times over the years. Their pricing is fair. They are competent and professional, including their punctuality.

I called Chuck because we had a leaking toilet in our powder room and as we suspected it just needed the ring replaced. That was taken care of quickly and efficiently. We also wanted him to take a look at a small vent in our basement ceiling that occasionally had water dripping through it and no one could figure out what the vent was from or where the water came from. He determined that it was from our outside spigot (where the hose gets connected) and scheduled a time to come back and replace the spigot. When he was here to replace the spigot he noticed that the sump pump kept running (being winter it shouldn't do so). He tried to check the sanitary sewer and informed us that it was blocked up and likely had never been rodded out. The spigot was fixed and we then scheduled a third time for him to come in order to rod out the sewer to see why the sump pump kept running. He rodded out the sewer and then showed me on the video camera a break in the pipe. He said it wasn't an emergency but we should repair it in the spring. While it seemed that issues kept mounting, he found things that others hadn't been able to and was honest in telling us what should be fixed soon and what could wait.

My contractor tore out the drywall and Booth came and repaired the leak. They did some other stuff like replacing a hose bib and a kitchen faucet. I have used them before and always found them to be reasonable, prompt, courteous and professional. On this particular job they were here about 8 man hours but charged me $1200 in labor. That's about $150 a man hour for a plumber and helper EACH. It was a Saturday. When I called to get a breakdown of the bill I got no response. I called and left two messages then just sent them a check with a letter asking for a breakdown. No response. My issue is NOT with their work but rather with the fact they never responded to my inquiry. I would use them again because they are local and trustworthy. I am in the real estate business so I am used to this kind of work but for sure next time I would ask for an estimate and cost per man hour and KEEP TRACK. Their work is great-just get a price. If they had responded to me and given me a reasonable answer their rating would be AAA. Sorry Chuck but you should have called me back. Thats all I wanted-an explanation.

He is very good, but perhaps a little overwhelmed sometimes because he has just himself and a helper. I would not use anyone else.

BOOTH IS A GREAT PLUMBER. THEIR PRICES ARE FAIR AND THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY. THEY WILL ALSO TAKE TIME TO EXPLAIN WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND WHY. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I NEVER FEEL LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL ME THINGS I DON''T REALLY NEED.
