A Dependable Electrician

Great. I've hired Tom several times. He's an experienced, knowledgable, professional. Tom is a Licensed Electrician. Unlicensed electricians or handymen can do some of the the work. They may cut corners or not know some of the finer points. One thing, i really like about Tom is that, he truly cares. I've been with him. He's pulled out some wires. He just shakes his head. Then Tom tells me whats wrong. Tom does everything to code. It's important to him. He always answers all my questions. I can learn from that. If he's running late, he will let you know. He's a great guy.

Every thing went great. His estimate for materials was very accurate and he did not overcharge for the time he spent picking up additional materials that were needed when he found several code issues that the inspector missed that could have led to life safety issues. (We were providing a warranty on the house for a year after the sale) After we reached agreement on the new work, these additional items were fixed quickly, allowing us to close on time. I would recommend him to anyone.

PLEASE READ IF CONSIDERING THIS CONTRACTOR, LONG REVIEW. My husband and I are very respectful towards anyone whom we deal with, and, in fact, I am in a service profession and am especially mindful of how we treat others. That said, there was NEVER an argument or strong words exchanged with Mr. Krol at any time. As part of our project to dry out and concrete our crawl space, we needed an outlet/electrical line installed to run a sump pump. After his thorough walk through (for which we agreed to pay him $50), we were impressed with Mr. Krol's knowledge and seeming professionalism. He mentioned that he would use his teenage son as an assistant, and we had no problem with that seeing as Mr. Krol himself seemed competent . In fact, Mr. Krol indicated that this would help keep costs down (which ended up not to be the case). As far as a permit, it was mentioned, but he never required us to obtain one and did the work without one. We never refused to get one, nor discussed it at any length. On the day of the work, Mr. Krol and son arrived at 11:30am, a half hour later than the agreed 11am start time. No problem. After the job, when presented with the bill, there was a line item for a half hour charge for 'procuring parts'. My husband calmly asked about this. Mr. Krol replied that they were actually out getting parts from 11-11:30. So he's charging us an electrician's hourly rate of $84 per hour to go to Home Depot. Well, in light of the fact that the total bill was $1117, my husband did not argue with him, we LET IT GO and we paid the bill in FULL without complaint or further discussion. After the job, we could not go in and inspect the outlet that was installed because the crawl space was very wet. Fast forward to a few weeks later when the crawl space is finished. My husband tried plugging in a shop vac and noticed that the outlet cover is not flush with the outlet, causing the outlet to be recessed too far for a plug to make a connection with the electricity. The sump plug appears to be staying in ok, but we were concerned because the outlet was not exactly correct and we had paid $1117 for the job. My husband texted and called Mr. Krol and heard nothing for a few days. My husband finally emailed, appropriately and calmly questioning the outlet and asking Mr. Krol to come by and take a look (after all it's under his 10 year warranty) and we received the following, shocking, unprofessional and insulting email in return: Your number is blocked on my mobile phone. You questioned the time billed for procuring parts and you seemed to question the necessity of an insured labor assistant on your larger job. These appeared to me as doubts of my professional integrity and I pass on clients who present a lack of respect. I do quality work with excellent customer satisfaction at a competitive price. I know what other licensed electricians charge and what they charge for labor assistants. I don't take every call comes in. I provide my unique special service to those who appreciate it since other contractors don't offer what I do. Your job required permit and I risked losing my professional license to serve you but I just didn't feel the love back. In the future, I humbly request you find a different electrical contracting provider. My husband and I are completely insulted, offended and angry that not only did we get a response like this after never having argued with this man, but that he is not making good on following through with his work. My husband kept his cool in the interest of getting the issue resolved, and emailed back multiple times for Mr. Krol to come by and fix the issue, but received no further response. We ended up having to fix the problem through other means. I guess even after you pay this man $1117 for a job, he can decide he doesn't want to be your electrician anymore, even to perform warranty work. Use him at your own risk, lest he doesn't "feel the love" when dealing with you.

Tom was great, did a great job and shared his knowledge which I appreciated.

Tom installed the 20 amp circuit and rectified some other wiring issues he found that were not up to code. He did an excellent job of keeping us informed about the work and showing us the other problems we needed to upgrade to bring the area up to code. We would highly recommend him and definitely hire him again.

Tom was very prompt to call back and schedule his first available appointment, I called Wednesday afternoon and we scheduled for Friday morning. He was on time, very nice and polite, fixed the outlet and anchored it to the baseboard so it would not pull out again. Then tested the outlet to assure that it worked properly. Very pleased and would recommend his buisiness.

I would highly recommend Tom for any electrical needs. He was very professional and knowledgable about lighting and electronics in general. He was prompt, courteous and a nice guy to boot. His pricing was very reasonable and he did an excellent job of installing a new light in my bathroom. I will definitely call him for my dinning room light!
