+ -1 moreWhile I appreciate the fact that McMahon Movers has agreed to repair our furniture I am doubtful they would do the same for others in the same position. I base this opinion on the action of their claims person who seemed far too eager to confront and ignore as opposed to listen and assess. There were several circumstances that conspired against an independent party accepting McMahon Movers position and I believe that led them to accept our position. A couple words of advice; make sure to review the insurance section and how to handle information during the move, claims, and follow the letter of the law or you could regret it later. One other suggestion, I recommend video taping all furniture & possessions being moved prior to the move (in bright light) to show the condition of all pieces. 1 hour of pre-work could have saved us a lot of grief. Also note there were no complaints on the BBB site or Angie's List for McMahon Movers prior to our move.
Description of Work: McMahon Movers Inc(MM)moved our home/furniture from Chicago, IL to Crystal Lake, IL. MM sent too small a vehicle for the job despite repeated discussions with the owner regarding the subject. MM on site movers spent 2+ hours rearranging furniture on the truck to fit all items (I suppose part of the reason why many damaged items). MM charged us for all time spent on site (hourly move contract) despite my protest to the owner. Several items were damaged as we watched them unload our furniture (1 week later). After I filed a damaged furniture claim MM sent a furniture repair company to assess the claim. He denied a significant number of the claims, his reasoning ranged from it could have happened by some other means to just dismissing claims for no reason (ignored). I filed a complaint with the BBB of Illinois. After an initial exchange of facts (ours not theirs as their response was more or less baseless). MM agreed to submit my claim to their insurance company and cover the damages.
