Tom did a fantastic job. Between the kitchen and bathrooms, we had in excess of 90 cabinet doors and drawer fronts that needed repair and painting. Several of the pieces were warped and coming apart. Tom removed everything and took it to his shop where the pieces when through a 13 step process, resulting in doors and drawer fronts that looked as new as if they had just came from the manufacturer. After he completed the cabinet boxes and reinstalled everything, our kitchen and baths became rooms to be proud of. Tom is the best in the business and we would never consider anyone else for future cabinet work.

In looking into refinishing our 16 year old cabinets, I found that using a spray paint finish was the best option. Looking for someone who does this lead me to Kitchen Magician which was reviewed on Angie’s List. He contacted me, gave me a quote and I decided to use him. He came to the house and told me his process. Removes the doors, takes them to his shop where he Cleans, sand and repair the doors and then spray on multiple coats of primer and sand, lastly spray and lightly sand the cabinets with multiple coats of a special paint designed for this type of application. He then came to the house and cleaned, painted trim if necessary. Then he brought the doors back and it was amazing the transformation that took place. They looked better than brand new. I am extremely pleased with pleased with the outcome and highly recommend if you are considering replacing your cabinets, look into this it’s a fraction of the cost of replacement and will not disrupt your kitchen so you can still use it.

Tom is a craftsman and a perfectionist. The experience we had was 10 out of 10 stars! Throughout the process Tom was communicative, polite and works amazingly clean. We are thrilled with our cabinets and highly recommend Tom.

We couldn't have been happier with what Tom Peloquin from Kitchen Magician in Crystal Lake, Illinois, did with our kitchen. We had 24-year-old white kitchen cabinets that were dingy and worn. Tom took our cabinet doors and painstakingly sanded them down and repainted them, matching them to the cabinet frames he painted in our kitchen. Tom did an amazing job. He was professional, affordable, communicative, on-time, and answered all of our questions and proactively gave us tips on how to make our kitchen more functional. He is extremely meticulous and detail-oriented and thorough with his projects. He also helped repair some holes in our basement drywall while he waited for a coat to dry in the kitchen, and didn’t even charge us for the hole repairs. It was such a kind thing to do! I wanted my oak kitchen cabinets to be painted white. Tom did an amazing job. He is very meticulous and is a true craftsman. He is a one man shop. From start to finish the job took less than three weeks, but it was because of all of the prep work, degreasing of the cabinets, sanding, priming, and painting. Tom is an absolute perfectionist and takes a lot of pride in his work and attention to detail. He explains things in great detail and is willing to offer suggestions if asked. For an additional cost he adding molding to the cabinets for a great look and also added new hinges so that the cabinet doors close slowly and no longer bang shut. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed if you chose to go with Tom. Because of his reputation he is typically booked sometime out, but he is well worth waiting for.

Tom is one of the nicest tradesmen I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He is very knowledgeable about his craft and takes his work to the level of artist rather than just a craftsman. On top of that he is courteous, patient and extremely conscientious. He is meticulous about his work and left my kitchen that way when he was finished working. His portion of my kitchen remodel job took a little over a month. I cannot say enough good things about this man and his work. I highly recommend him if you are looking to give your kitchen a quality facelift and not break the bank.

I couldn't be more happy with my "new white cabinets". Tom is a perfectionist and takes great pride in his work. His attention to detail is impressive. He took my 47 year old brown cabinets and made them look like new! Tom is an excellent communicator; he tells you when he will be coming to your home, and then you can count on him to be there. He has a pleasant personality and is a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him to anyone.

This gentleman is truly outstanding! He is a true artist and gives great attention to detail. He includes no other employee assistance because of his determination to produce a quality product. He is a great problem solver and will go to great lengths to solve any problems related to your project. Although we applaud his competency and special skills, he is an individual who establishes and adheres to his schedule to the day and hour. We have no reservation to give him the highest recommendation to complete a project.

he did a great job matching the stains to the current color of the cabinets.  The den was difficult to match since there was four different colors due to age of the cabinets and use of different woods.  Regardless of the challenge, the kitchen and den look brand new.  It took a little longer than we expected but I prefer it to take a little longer than for him to rush it.  He also installed some rolling cabinets and trash kitchen trash cans.  We can't say enough good things about him, his attention to detail and the finished product.  Thanks!

Tom responded to our request for estimate/quote immediately and an appointment was set.  He came, explained what he would do and gave quote on the spot.  Tom is very thorough and professional.  He was very honest in explaining he would not be able to do our job right away, he only likes to work on one job at a time.  So when it came time to do our home we had his full attention and the job did not drag on.  One of the many positives of having Tom do the work is you do not have to empty your cabinets and when I came home from work there was never a mess.....I could still cook meals.  Tom was well worth the wait and our kitchen looks great!!!!

Tom did an amazing job refinishing our kitchen cabinets. He took outdated oak cabinets and made them look brand new again. His quality of work, professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail are outstanding. I called him in September and he came out right away to give me an estimate. He explained the process and gave me a very reasonable quote. We agreed to start the job right after Thanksgiving and he said it would be completed before Christmas. And he was true to his word. I can't say enough about how great this experience was. Don't hesitate to call Tom. You will not be disappointed.

Tom was very professional, did a great job, was a pleasure to work, and detail oriented. 
He gave us a no-pressure estimate with several options, talked us through the process at every step,and made sure everything was working fine. Our kitchen looks brand new, at a fraction of the price of new cabinets. 
Our cabinets were 60's style dark stained, with old fashioned style doors and drawers. However, they were good quality solid wood. Tom replaced the door and drawer fronts with new Shaker style fronts, self closing hinges and modern handles. He gave us suggestions on styles and colors, and we now have a light, modern white kitchen. 
He took great care in all phases, coordinated with us on when he would be working, and cleaned up after himself every day, so we had no downtime for the kitchen.   He found and fixed a number of things we hadn't noticed or were just living with (including a non-functional cutting board). He also recommended a tile installer who was very good too. I highly recommend Tom as an honest, top-quality kitchen magician.

I called Tom for an estimate on updating my kitchen cabinets at the end of February. He came out and took the time to listen to my ideas and then explained exactly what he could do and what it would cost.  After meeting Tom and reading the other Angie's List reviews, I knew that he was the person I wanted to hire. 
I was extremely impressed with Tom's work ethic and strong attention to detail.  He's not only very knowledgeable but also a very nice, friendly guy.  He is a true perfectionist and made sure that each and every detail in my new kitchen looked the best.  He's very neat too and there was almost no dust from sanding - truly amazing! 
Tom was also very helpful and patient when I was picking the paint color and even dropped off a "test" cabinet door in the color I chose so I could see how it looked before he started on the rest of the doors. 
Tom went above and beyond by doing extra things like painting the baseboards of the entire kitchen island at no extra charge and even took the time to scrape some paint off the floors under the baseboards that my last painter left behind!  He also put me in touch with a carpenter for a custom cabinet that I wanted and then picked up the cabinet when it was finished and painted and installed it.   
The kitchen turned out even better than I expected thanks to Tom's skills.  I would absolutely recommend him.

Tom is easily the most honest and meticulous contractor we've ever hired.  When our cabinets were delivered, he offered to come and help unload the material (company insisted on assisted delivery).   He helped inspect the boxes and pointed out that one of them was damaged.   He helped us get the correct evidence and paperwork on the spot so that we could get a replacement right away.
Tom and his partner, Alan, were flexible and worked with us to get the look we wanted.  They did an excellent job of  installing the cabinets and did some additional work to put in toe kick, additional quarter-round, baseboards, and under / over cabinet lighting.  They also provided additional advice in what to ask for when dealing with our counter top contractors.  
We have two young children (ages 5 and 3), and Tom was very kind to them.  He was patient and always greeted our kids when he arrived each day.  On one occasion, he even allowed our son to help him with some rope lighting.  Our son wasn't actually "working", but Tom made him feel as if he had an important role in the project. 
Tom is a kind and generous person.  One time, when he was getting ready to leave for the day, he saw my wife struggling to open our patio screen door, and he repaired it on his own time.  He also installed some additional pullouts for us even though it wasn't part of the job.  He saved us a lot of extra time and frustration.
We are EXTREMELY happy with Tom's level of honesty, professionalism, and courtesy.  We would  recommend him to anyone!

Tom did an OUTSTANDING job.  Probably the best contractor we have worked with for any work we have had done.  The kitchen looks new and he certainly exceeded our expectations.

I had received several quotes from large outfits to have our dated white oak kitchen re-faced to solid cherry prior to meeting Tom of Kitchen Magician, Inc.  These quotes were unreasonably too high.  I was also concerned that the completed work will not be up to my strict engineering standards.  I personally have keen eye to details and having worked with numerous contractors in the past, I became knowledgeable in discerning among; mediocre, good, and excellent contractors during the time of the initial interview.  When I interviewed Tom, I realized that he is an excellent contractor and his quote was very reasonable. Nonetheless, after seeing Tom's meticulous pains-taking attention to details and the extra ordinary efforts he takes to ensure that everything he installed in our new kitchen was perfect, I came to the conclusion that Tom is way more than excellent contractor.  He is alone in his realm where he seeks perfections and take extra time to achieve it.  The completed cherry kitchen looked like very high-end new kitchen.  He did that at a fraction of the cost of a similar high-end kitchen. Tom is undoubtedly one of the best Kitchen re-modelers in this area.  He is truly the best contractor I have ever met in terms of workmanship and scrupulousness.

I cannot say enough about Tom and his work. We have had the best possible experience ever. He is probably the most reliable, best organized, immaculate and nicest person we have ever had the pleasure to work with. Along with the fact that his work is superb. I would recommend him to everyone I know.

We are Extremely pleased with the job that Tom did for us and the outcome of our new kitchen.  Tom knew exactly what we were looking for from the second he met with us and started talking through our wish list.  Tom was extremely detail oriented, punctual and explained exactly what he was doing each step of the way.  I got quotes from three other contractors and Tom was about half the cost of the others and he showed the most personal interest in doing the job right.
