Elias Services

We hired Elias Services for 2 projects. First was tree planting and second was to fix a drainage issue with our yard. We paid in full after we were told work was completed. However, after the first rain, it became clear that the drainage issue had become far worse. Where we use to get minimal pooling on in the spring, we now had a pond. The work was not completed per the terms of the contract. The photos are after they installed our so-called drainage solution. We were able to obtain a landscaping laser level and probe to find the pipe. We found that not only was the drainage pipe run uphill away from the house but no pea gravel or filtered sock has been used. Elias has not fixed the issue or refunded our substantial bill for our yard drainage and has had more than a month to do so.

Elias was hired to build a retaining wall around my above-ground pool. Although he was recommended by our pool maintenance company as having done this before, he caused over $3,000 damage to our pool in the course of his work and then walked away from the situation taking zero responsibility. Now he refuses to respond. Before you hire Elias, ask if he has liability insurance. We did not and that's on us. Don't count on him "doing the right thing" if he damages your property in the execution of his work. He won't.

They arrived when they said they would and they did high quality work. They were responsive and used high-grade materials.

The cleaning of the bricks was well done and done thoroughly. The pavers were pulled up, and sand put beneath them to repair their "setting".



However, many things went wrong. 



    Elias himself broke my hose reel ($85 Home Depot) and did not repair and has not reimbursed me. 

    The bricks on the edge f the patio were put it both higher, and at an angle, such that when it rains, water sits/pools on the rest of the patio.

    I do not believe that any sealant was used as per the contract. The pavers looked no different after the alleged sealant was put on. Elias assured me personally (in person) that it had been done. He assured me that the patio, by virtue of the sealant, would resist spills and stains and that I would never again have to worry about stains, grass or weeds growing up through the bricks again.

    I spilled some cooking oil a few weeks ago on the bricks and it has stained the bricks

    I have called Elias 5 times and gotten only one return phone call that went to voicemail

    No one ever answer at the number provided and you always go to voicemail. You get a text telling you that they will call you as soon as they can (if you call from a mobile phone), but I only got called back once

    I asked Elias to come back out to the house to see the weeds, the stain, and the water pooling on the patio....he never came out and never called back

    On his last visit, when I paid him the second half of the bill, I shared with him my concerns about the sealant not having been applied. He assured me that it had. I told him that I was unhappy with what his estimator promised me (i.e. the bricks would have their color "returned" and brightened) and Elias said he would "handle that matter". I told Elias that his estimator has assured me that the brick paver wall would also be adjusted/repaired. Elias appropriately pointed out that this was not in the contract, but feeling bad about my dissatisfaction with what I was promised and what I received, that he would call me in a couple weeks to talk about doing some more work. I have not spoke with Elias since.

    I left Elias a message asking him to come out or call, and that if the matter didn't get resolved, I would take my story to the Better Business Bureau and Angie's list. It's been 3 weeks since I left that message, and I have not heard back, so I am following through on my promise.

    I have photos that clearly show these statements are true (i.e. grass and weeds growing through the bricks, stained bricks, broken hose reel, wall not repaired, etc.) and would be willing to attach these photos to this review if I know how.
