I had a good experience with them.

Work is done right the first time in just about every case. Sometimes there is something that requires a little more work for final repair beyond initial diagnosis and repair, but that was for a computer malfunction. They also repair what you ask them to prioritize. If they find something else, they inform and let you make the decision to repair or delay (based on $$).

I'm planning to purchase a new vehicle and trade this one in so I didn't want to put any money into it. Unfortunately it started to run rough and the 2017's are not out yet for purchase. So needless to say I had to bite the bullet and take it in. Turns out I had a ball joint ready to fall off which was the culprit of my issues. The guys at Douglas did a full inspection and called with a review of everything they found and no pressure to go along with it. After my repairs I was shocked at how well my vehicle runs now. It's got 85K and runs better than when I picked it up off the used car lot! I also noticed the young guy working the front desk engaging a customer with questions about her old pickup truck. One of the things I like to see from an automotive service place is a real passion for what they do not to mention the place was updated and clean!

I think they do fine work. They are great on the pricing and don't over charge. I got better prices going to Douglas Auto than the Ford dealership that I was working with .

This is what a shop should be.  Sharp, professional, good value.

I am trying to decide whether to keep the car or sell it.
You want somebody that you can trust and I find them very trustworthy and responsive. I think when the car was acting up I took it over there and asked if they could look at it without at appointment and they said yes, they could.

Ty was very honest and straight forward. We received 2 quotes for this same job from other mechanics including the dealership. My husband called and told them what we needed and they gave us a price more than $200 less than the other places. They were friendly and worked to get us in as soon as possible. They offer a free shuttle service which was hugely helpful! It's nice to find a business like this that we can trust.

They were completely professional and prompt. The person that called us back was very knowledgeable and did not start the work without our OK. We would take any vehicle there that needed more work than we could do ourselves, and recommend them to family and friends.

"I recently purchased a used car.  It is a 1995 Oldsmobile Ciera.  I bought the car as a "beater" or run around car.  According to the Carfax the car had been well maintained.  But since it is a very old car I wanted Douglas Automotive in Crystal Lake to inspect it for any major issues/expenses that might come up.  They performed a 30 point courtesy inspection at no charge!   My wife and I have taken our other cars there in the past and they do quality work and never try to "find" more things wrong to run up the bill and just focus on the work you ask and charge a fair price.

This is a class operation.  Stopped by to set appointment for following week and Pat the Manager would not let me get off lot without replacing headlight.  Odometer light required removing dash and replacing lights.  Engine light signal is sometimes a an open invitation to a dealer to find anything they can replace to build up a bill -- not here !! They replaced only the faulty part.  
I had get an inspection, due  before end of month, This shop was unable to reach me at 230, so they were kind enough to drive a few blocks and run the vehicle throughout the inspection.  That built my loyalty to this shop. I had a great experience.

The staff at Douglas are all trained and certified mechanics and it shows. They knew my vehicle and were able to quickly advise me of current recalls they knew of as well as giving me a great overall assessment of the current condition of my car. They found a nail in my tire and fixed that at no charge. I was so impressed, my roommate brought their car in the next day and had just as impressive of an experience with even more issues on an older car. Great service! I have since recommended them to my neighbor who was having electrical system issues on an 8 year old Saturn and he was also impressed with the quick repair, great service, and fair price. I will be back.

They did alright but they were very expensive. I probably would not go back to them again but they did the job. I thought that the cost would be moderate but it turned out to be $600 and to me, that was plenty and if I had known, I would have not even had it done. I do not know if they overcharged but it just seemed like it was a lot higher than it would have had to be but they fixed the car and it passed the emissions test. I was just disappointed with the price but other than that, I was satisfied with the service. The quality of their work was alright and their employees were fine.

Another place had told me I needed so many things. Turned out I didn't. Still was too expensive to fix, so I sold it to a neighbor.

My experience overall was dissatisfying. I had to go back 3 times. They had a hard time solving the issue and never really got the problem solved. I ended up having to take the car to another dealer. They were very pricey and I would not recommend this company to others.
