he was punctual. I am not a carpenter so needed to rely on his expertise. I bought the $300 coupon for 4 hours of work. When he saw the project he said it was hard and that it would be an extra $200. While I though t that was high I am not an expert so agreed The project took less than 2 hours, and he would not honor the coupon for the 4 hours of work. $500 for less than 2 hours of work. We paid for materials. Even if he counted travel time, this was very over priced and I feel totally taken advantage of

Sloppy work. The one door has a 1/4 inch gap between the door and the frame at the top and bottom, and a 3/8" gap between the door and frame at the latch. Screws used to anchor the door frame to the wall are sticking out. He did not bother to countersink them. One door has a 1/2 inch gap between the brick mould and the wall. The initial work was done the day of the flooding in July. I went out to purchase a generator because I was without power. When I got home I asked Charlie to help me unload it from the car (it weighed close to 200lbs.). He did so and proceeded to help me assemble it (put the wheels and handle on it.) I did not ask him to do this. He later charged me $50 for the work! I asked him to pick up the doors on his way to my house, it's on the way. He said he would but it would cost me $40. I agreed. It turns out they were the wrong doors (my fault) so he returned them, $40 more. When he came to install them a second time, he charged me $40 again to pick the new doors up. The only good things I can say is that he was neat and friendly.

He fixed the leak in shower and came back few days later to inspect it. Then painted the area after examination

The small items were done fine. The tile job in the kitchen was not done appropriately and I will need to pay to have it done again. He did show up on time came back a second day to re-do the tile but it turned out the same Tiles not flat, grouting not even. Unacceptable.

Perfect transaction. He showed up when he said he would, gave me a quote, did the work, collected money and gave me a receipt. He was very efficient and pleasant. I'll have to wait for another windy day to see how well he got my shutters tightened.

He showed up on time, did a great job on the projects, and told me that some should be done by a person who was licensed differently, etc. He was very professional, and he referred me to those who did projects he did not do. The only thing that wasnt' completed correctly was a door knob that kept falling off. It was "fixed" but it fell off the next day. I wasn't upset. I'm sure he thought it was fixed. I'll ask him next time when I have more projects to correct that. I would definitely hire him again.. and consider him my GO TO person for minor repairs.

Very well. He called the day before to confirm the appointment. Charlie was on time. Quickly tightened the faucet. Removed the old ceiling fan & replaced it with a new one, with some minor adjustments needed. He completed his work within the given time, always professional.

First off, Charlie was a really nice guy and got the job done.
 There was a problem getting this job scheduled as quickly as I expected.  I ordered the job on 6-5, and finally got it done on 6-21.Maybe that was my problem being a first time Angie's List person and not knowing what to expect, but it started out to be the 14th, then quickly went to the 21st. 
Then, he didn't have the right wood and had to go get it - which I don't think I should have to pay for that time.  If he had come to look at the job before hand, like one of your "Here's the Deal" description states, that would have been taken care of. And I would have added that inspection time to the $300 for 4 hours.
I had a major problem with Charlie, in that I have a very protective and barky dog.  He actually told Buddy to "shut up"!  I am a mom, gramma, and long time pet owner, and have never used those words to any of them.  I realize that Buddy is my problem, but "shut up" has never been in my vocabulary.
He did give me advice to give the guys who will be painting the porch railing, so that was a good thing, and I will pass that on.
All in all, I'm pleased with the job done, but not Angie's List , in general.

Charlie did great job fixing all the doors.  We were missing hardware that I had to special order so I will book him again in the future.  He was able to do alot in 3 hours.
