ABC Roofing

The major work was apparently done adequately, though I am unqualified to assess it, and cannot predict what the durability of the work will be.  But the company damaged some other parts of the house in the process, and then charged to fix those problems!  But the major  problem was ABC Roofing's bait-and-switch pricing tactics.  After pricing the job at the outset, the company then substantially increased the price for the work by several thousand dollars in an apparent effort to over-charge the insurance company.  Then ABC failed to provide requested documentation to support their pricing increase, failed to honor express contract obligations on the negotiated price, and brazenly threatened to sue for payment for work they had already been paid for.  Only when they were advised they would be counter-sued for consumer fraud did ABC abandon its scheme to charge more than had been agreed.

The work was not completed to our satisfaction. While doing the roof, they actually damaged the face of the house. They said they were going to come and repair. They never did. The workers destroyed the landscaping. They didn't do the cleanup. They have tried to commit fraud. They did not do the job as they needed to. As a matter of fact, they created more problems and they didn't fix it. They were never responsive.

The roofing crew had to work in blistering heat, but the did a good job and finished in two days.  They forgot to replace my wind turbines on the roof and had to come back for that.  Unfortunately, they at first installed two on only one side of the roof and they had to come back to put one on the other side of the roof, above the Master bedroolm - so I ended up with three!  Then the siding was repaired and the guttering replaced by two different subcontractors.  I was satisfied with the job they did.
The other job was to replace part of the ceiling in my rec-room and recover the entire floor due to a major leak in a shower drain in one of the upstairs baths.  They replaced the walllboard and then had to reblow the ceiling and replace the molding.  Then, they put in new carpeting over most of the rec-room floor and tile over the rest (because we keep the crate in the tile area where our large lab stays at night).  They did an excellent job on the carpeting and tile and recarpeted the stairs for a nominmal fee (not covered by insurance).  The rec-room looks great.
By the way, you are showing the wrong ABC Roofing at the top of this page.  This company is located in Olathe, KS and owned by Orin Sweeney.  The part of the company that did the rec-room is called Night and Day Remodeling.

The experience was very poor.  The original salesman seemed trustworthy but was fired during the long drawn out repair process.  There was zero follow up, no communication, and ultimately they could not repair the electrical or windows.  I had to repeatedly call them.  They informed the insurance company that the work was complete when it wasn't.  When they showed up to repair the windows, they showed up with vinyl replacement windows with nine pane inserts sandwiched in the glass.  The should have been wood replacements with 9 pane wood inserts.  At the end i cut my losses settled for the work complete.  The only plus was the garage door subcontractor was excellent.

They seemed to have trouble working with the insurance company. When the insurance company rejected their initial inspection report they assured us that we could get a reinspection, but they never seemed able to communicate with the insurance company well enough to accomplish that. When we became uncomfortable with the situation and decided to contact another roofing company, one of their employees became extremely hostile and threatening, especially towards my wife. This was THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL experience I've had with a contractor since we moved to KC 12 years ago.

He took care of my problem that the other roofing companies couldn't fix.  He was very knowledgeable.  He go out to me very quickly before the rain storm came.  I didn't have any problems after that.  He has a lot of integrity.  He is a really good contact person.  If I have any more roof problems, I would call him.

Wouldn't look at our roof without us signing a contract to use them provided they do the work to get the insurance company to see the damage and get the settlement.  We signed the provisional contract and they looked at the roof and other damage.  I contacted the insurance company and was told that the contractor should send in a fax citing additional damage and requesting an adjustor.

Told the gentlemen from ABC Roofing, left him a message with the information (fax & claim #) as requested.  Checked back with him on the next business day.  He indicated that we should get the insurance to come out.  He was asked that if he doesn't want to do it we can find another company - his response - 'Find another company-bye' hung up on my wife.

Not professional, condesending and rude.
