On Monday, July 13th, I called a highly recommended company to come out and see what they felt they could do. With this gentleman being in my home for less than 5 minutes and looking at not only my inside unit, but also my outside unit. He told me that it was the shreader (sp) valve and any person that looked at mine would have known it was this valve failing to pop back. He said when he took off the cap it was bubbling. He quickly went to his service truck and within 5 minutes my unit was repaired and the A/C is now working wonderfully. He also advised me that I did not need a new unit.
On Tuesday, July 14th, I telephoned Staats and asked for a refund. I was told by there office manager, Beth that they would not grant me a refund because "they don't offer a refund on service work that has been agreed too". I was also told that their service tech, Don looked at the valve and didn't think anything was wrong with it. Looking at it and testing for a leak are two different things. This company in my opinion are horrible and I will never call them again nor recommend them to anyone. I fully believe that they are rip offs.
"On Friday July 10, 2015, our tech did service this unit. He confirmed with the customer that the unit was very low on refrigerant and would require at least 4 pounds. He provided this customer with a written estimate prior to completing any work. He also instructed the customer on how to find a coupon, to at least off set a small bit of this cost. He also mentioned to her that upon adding refrigerant there were no guarantees that the unit would not leak out again. The customer agreed to the job, and signed the estimate. The tech added 4 pounds of refrigerant to the unit, upon checking the pressure levels of the unit, he removed his gauges and double checked that seal and found no bubbling or leaks that were noticeable. The unit started cooling the home, he collected his payment and continued with his route. The customer did indeed mention doing a leak check on the unit, given the experience our tech has in the field, he didn't refuse to do the leak check, but did mention that given the value and/or age of the unit she could spend quite a bit of time and money trying to locate the leak. In the customer's conversation with the office manager she mentioned that the unit had leaked out all the refrigerant within 5 hours of our service call, however she did not call our company back to allow us to comply with our 30 day call back policy. Anytime we are in a customer's home and provide a service, if the same problem occurs again, we will come back out and rediagnose the unit at no additional charge in those first 30 days. Don is not the only tech we employ in the HVAC department, and another tech could have been provided to diagnose the unit if she was insistent that he not return. She did not provide us the opportunity to check if there was a problem with the unit that we missed on our original service call. It was explained to the customer by the office manager that there is no guarantees when refrigerant is added that it would not leak out again, and refunds could not be provided. Should she have given us a the chance to take a second look, the amount she paid originally would have been taken into consideration if any additional repairs would have been necessary. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustrations this customer has experienced with dealing our company, however we would have appreciated the opportunity to correct the service when a problem reoccurred. If the other company did indeed have her unit refilled with 4 pounds or more of refrigerant and up and running within 5 minutes, and can provide us with a paid statement, the refund would be reconsidered."
Very timely and efficient technician. Friendly staff from beginning to end of service visit.
The dishwasher ws easily fixed by a compatent repair service. The main control board needed replaced and that is why there was pumping issues. The repair fixed all issues and we continue to use the same detergent without any issue. Hire the right repairman and all of your problems go away. Let me know if you would like a copy uploaded of the receipt where the dishwasher was repaired.
"When our tech went out to diagnose the customer's problem he could not duplicate customer's complaint. Our tech did find over sudsing in the unit, but found no evidence of a leak at the time of service. The tech did run diagnostic testing, as per manufacturer suggestion. We only charged customer for trip and diagnosis, there was no repair to be done at that time. The damage must have been caused by an intermittent mechanical malfunction of the customer's unit. When we were there, both times, the system drained and did NOT leak. It is our goal to provide the best service in the industry and our track record clearly shows that. We have received back to back service awards through Angie's List alone."
