When the ASAP Sales Representative met with my wife following the storm damage, he stated that while the damage only occured on one slope of the roof, after inspection of the entire roof he was confident that the insurance company would pay to replace the entire roof. The insurance company only agreed to replace the damaged slope. I believe this information ("I can get the insurance company to replace the entire roof") was used to get the ASAP Contracting and Roofing Contract signed by my wife. The Sales Representative did not meet what he had indicated would be the outcome of allowing ASAP to complete the work.
ASAP Sale Representative did not respond to emails or phone calls timely.
ASAP Sales Representative did not provide a firm date for the repairs until early October. Several requests for a repair date were made verbally (phone calls or messages) and in emails. Storm damage occured in mid-July. Repairs were not completed until mid-October.
ASAP Sales Representative was late to several meetings that he set up.
ASAP Sales Representative made minor adjustments to the work estimate that he and the Insurance Adjuster had already agreed was adequate for the roof repairs. This tactic resulted in delays in completing the job as the work estimate continued to be resumbitted to the Insurance Adjuster. When I followed up with the Adjuster, he stated that the charges were very minor and that the requested scope of work had already been agreed to with the ASAP Sales Representative when the estimate was originally created. When this information was provided back to the ASAP Sales Representative, he accused the Insurance Adjuster's wife of having violated IL state laws in the past. I surmise this accusation was supposed to smear the reputation of the Insurance Adjuster. In total, the ASAP Sales Representative revised the estimate to pad the estimate with a few hundred dollars, while delaying the work on my roof.
The day of the actual work, Sales Representative stated that crew would be at the job site at 1:00 pm. I contacted the Sales Representative at 1:30 pm and asked if the job had been cancelled or postponed again. Sales representative stated that crew would be at job site at 2:00 pm. Crew finally arrived at the job site at 2:30 pm.
When the crew started their work, they did not have a ladder long enough to access my roof. I had to lend them my 32' fiberglass ladder to access the roof.
The Sales Representative and Job Foreman both stated that the truck/trailer would not leave tire ruts in my lawn. Once the trailer was backed into place, tire ruts had been made. Sales Representative stated that he would get a roller and fix the lawn. Lawn repairs have not been completed to date (now one week after the job was completed.)
"We did in fact install a limited lifetime warrantied roof. That is pretty much the standard now. The shingle manufacturers have gotten away from 20,25,30,etc...year roofs. All the manufacturers sell a limited lifetime warranty roof now. We offered the [member name removed]'s a "Platinum Warranty" from owens corning. They did agree to the warranty. We would have been glad to provide the warranty had the [member name removed]'s actually paid their bill! We did not have any "illegal aliens" doing a roof for the [member name removed]'s. If we had know how racist the [member name removed]'s were we never would have contracted to do work for them. Our crew leader was born and raised in the United States, but because he was hispanic he was an "illegal alien" to the [member name removed]'s. We went to the property to try and resolve any installation issues the [member name removed]'s supposedly had. When we got there they told us we couldn't go on the roof and if we didn't leave they were going to call the Sheriff and Immigration. We said that would be fine, but obviously at that point there isn't much that can be resolved. We installed ice and water barrier in the valley's just as it is depicted in our presentation of how the work is going to be done. We are above board with all information. We explain the entire process from beginning to end. We have tried to resolve issues with the [member name removed]'s. We have contacted Owens Corning and our supplier and asked that they inspect for problems and help us but the [member name removed]'s don't want anyone to come out. It can't get resolved when they don't want to resolve it."
"We went out and checked Mr. [member name removed] complaint and found no issues with the actual installation. We do have a cancellation clause and if Mr. [member name removed] had cancelled his contract after the 3-day cancellation period it would have cost him $1500.00 per our contract for him to cancel. Our contract is designed to help us as well as our customers. It isn't fair for us to spend hours helping a customer, meeting their insurance company and making numerous phone calls to their insurance company to try and resolve issues only to have them cancel because Chuck in truck can do a layover for 2/3 of what were were going to replace their entire roof system for. We are professional, fair and try to take care of our customers. We did put some nails in the gutter covers because they were wrinkling up under the shingles and causing their new roof to look bad. We tried to schedule to go out when the gutter cover company was scheduled to do their replacement but were never contacted back. The only contact we had was a request after the fact for $500.00. We requested the invoice and never received any information. The shingles take time to heat up and lay down flat. This was the issue over the back porch. It corrected itself over time. We completed over 900 projects in 2011 and had 3 complaints. We will try to do better in the future."
They do not do doors at all, they told us yes to seal the deal but never performed it because they would have to subcontract it out and it's not cost effective for them. (BEWARE)
We never did recover the additional cost from our insurance and ASAP claim they charge correctly.
"[Member name removed] was a customer in June of 2012. In April of 2012 we had one of the worst hail storms ever recorded in Saint Louis. We were initially overwhelmed, however we did try to complete [Removed member name]'s work. We took our supplier, Manager and rep all out to [Removed member name]'s house to try and take care of him. The fact is that his insurance company did not allow enough money for the work and he didn't want to help us convince them that they were underpaying for his repairs. We completed work for over 1000 customers in 2012 with 2 complaints. We will try to do better."
"We appreciate your time. Please keep us in mind for any future restoration work. ASAP Contracting & Roofing LLC"
"Thank you for taking the time to post a positive review on our behalf. It is all too often that a thousand good jobs will go unnoticed, but one problem will stand out for years."
