They did very good work they were on time. We were pleased.

It didn't work out. Basically I had a hard time getting hold of them and I finally did get a hold of him. They came by, they did part of the work as much as they could get done in a particular amount of time, which actually what they were doing is plastering the walls so you can only do it and then you have to come back and sand it down and do all those stuff so they got the initial part done and then they never came back. There was one excuse after another as to why they couldn't complete the project and I finally just said let us just forgot about it because if I did that at the moment I got my money's worth you know for what they had done, but then I had somebody else to finish it up. My guess is that they just ended up with more work than they could handle and that is what created the problem for him because the people were very nice but it is just that they couldn't handle the work. I would not use them again. I wouldn't recommend them only because like I said I am not exactly sure how good they are because they never did finish so I would not recommend them because I don't know what anybody's else experience would be.

The service was okay. They were nice guys to work with. They do not do large jobs from what I found out with using their service. They seemed not interested in doing a larger job for me.

It turned out great. They were good workers and very talented.

Overall the Honest Abe experience was very smooth and professional. Only one minor problem Honest Abe is extremely busy and scheduling can be a challenge.

I bought a coupon for four hours of handyman service on Angie's List.  I called Abe to schedule the service and we were able to schedule a date within a week or two of my call.  On the day of the appointment, Abe and his assistant showed up as promised.  I asked them to fix two doors that weren't closing right.  He was able to fix one and partially fix the second.  They also installed baseboard molding I had pre-purchased and painted.  They did a good job and Abe was pleasant and professional.

He is our guy now. I was really pleased with the custom work he did. We got what we wanted done and the price and work was good. I was really happy to work with him and will use him again in the future.

Abe showed up on time and got to work painting my ceiling....did a nice job.

This service performed work I did not want done, and did not perform work I did want done.
I bought a plastering special that was to provide two hours of service for a low fixed price.  My 1927-built house has several plaster ceilings where the smooth-finish plaster has minor cracks that I wanted to have repaired.  Two hours sounded about right, and I was willing to pay somewhat more if more time was required.

The two plasterers arrived promptly at the time agreed and were cordial.  I showed them the three rooms, and the cracked areas of plaster.  They asked me if I wanted to buy more time, and I said I was not ready to commit to more time at the beginning of the project.

I left them to set up in the living room, and I went to another part of the house.

After a bit, I heard scraping noises that did not seem right for the project.  I returned to the living room to find that the plasterers had removed about an eighth to a quarter of the plaster from the ceiling.  I was appalled!  I told them that I just wanted the cracks repaired, and they said that repair was not appropriate because the repaired areas would be too heavy to remain suspended from the ceiling.

I had a great deal of work to do in the house, that I had taken vacation days to do.  Had I taken time to consider, I would have asked the plasterers to stop stripping and to try to re-plaster just the area they had already stripped.  Unfortunately, I was so discouraged by what they had done, and had so much else on my mind, that I gave up and let them strip the rest of the plaster in that room.  It took more time than I had paid for, so I had to pay extra.  I asked the company to send me a receipt for the additional amount.

Now, where I had a plastered room, I have a bare ceiling; and in the other rooms, no repairs were made.

Although the company offered to re-plaster using a rough finish, for a low price, I do not want a rough finish, and I wanted time to consider what to do.  I asked again for a receipt before the plasterers left.

The company never sent me a receipt.  I plan to review other plasterers in the future, when I can budget for a large expense like re-plastering an entire living room.  I would not use this company again. 

The work was fine and the gentleman doing was fine, however his response time was a little slow. He said that he had been out of town, which I can understand.  He did show up to do the job when he said he would. I would certainly use him again.

Had a shower leaking onto living room ceiling. Called Honest Abe based on glowing Angie's list review. He fit me in the same day, which was great, but then called and said that he was stuck in traffic on the same route that I just used (at almost the same time) to leave work early. I didn't encounter any congestion at all. Not a big deal.

A few hours late, he got right to work diagnosing the problem and also asked my permission before cutting a hole in the drywall to locate the leak. I gave him permission and he diagnosed the problem quickly and passed along the information on how to fix it since it was simple. I appreciated this approach and asked him when he would be back to fix the hole in the ceiling. He took a picture and said he would pass it along to his team and find someone.

That is the last I heard from Honest Abe. No bill, no return call, no further services. Still have a hole in my ceiling that we have contacted another contractor to fix. I appreciated his personality, but nothing he did was professional besides the actual diagnosing of the leak. I'm also not sure how he makes a living if he operates like this regularly...

What I really liked about him was he was very personable. I am a single woman and I was alone. I just have a little dog, but I was completely comfortable with him in my home doing the necessary work. I would use him again in the future if needed.

Wow, was I disappointed.  this was my first experience with an Angie's List Big Deal.  Bought four hours of Reliable Handyman's services.  Called to make appointment for them to see the drywall jobs I needed done at my home, no drywalling involved, taping and mudding small areas throughout the house.  He promised to get back to me with a date he could get work done.  After two weeks I called him: they came on time on the appointed day.  We walked through the job again, and I left the house after about an hour, and confirmed they would do as much as possible in the four hours. What a disappointment.  I came home about 3 hours and 45 minutes into the four hours to find them gone.  One of the jobs (repairing a doorknow-sized hole in a bedroom wall was not done.  But more importantly, the work itself was sloppy and unprofessional.  For example, the small patch work done in the master bath left white drywall mud on the window molding; mud all over the sink and sink counter; the work was not sanded smooth. This was the condition of most if not all of the work throughout the house. When my painter came a few days later, he charged me extra for sanding down the work done by this company; redoing the work on a back sun porch ceiling; patching the door knob hole, and doing the finishing work on nearly all of the mudding in the house. I really thought this was an example of paying a discount price for service and finding the provider discounts the quality of the services provided--I wonder if I had paid full price if the work would have been so shabby.  I could definitely have done this job myself and it would have been better with a lot less clean-up. And listen, guys--next time you work in someone's bathroom, clean up after yourselves.  It takes two minutes to wipe up the drips of drywall mud in someone else's bathroom sink and counter.  Just pretend it was a bathroom in your mother's house and clean accordingly.

Abe did a wondeful job on my basement! He and his associates worked hard and went above and beyond to insure that I was satisfied with the work. Abe was timely, proffessional, and very curtious. I will most certainly hire him again in the future. Abe finished one time and within the budget.

We purchased the drywall special that Abe was offering through Angie's List. The offer was 4 hours of drywall work for $69. I contacted Abe and set up a time for him to come and look at the job. Our first time had to be rescheduled because of bad winter weather. Abe called me before the scheduled meeting time to reschedule. While here Abe looked at the work we wanted done and also a possible second project. Because of the terms of the Angie's list special we were to purchase all of the supplies. Abe answered all of my questions about what supplies were needed. In a few days Abe's assistant called back to set up the time for the work. On the day of the work, Abe called to ask if they could come earlier than scheduled because they had finished their previous job early. The two men completed our job in 2 hours. Abe left the decision to us if we wanted to finish with the painting and clean up or if we wanted him to do it, since he would be over the coupon amount and charging an hourly rate. We really appreciated that. We were very happy with the work Abe did. He was easy to work with, responsive and prompt.

My experience with him was positive. He was on time.

He arriived on time and had a co worker with him. Let me just summarize, there are places on my doors that were either not painted, unevenly painted & heavy in some spots and light in other spots. despite the fact that I supplied painters tape there was paint on rubber door jams and door hardware. When they left I wiped paint off my hardwood floor.

Abe contacted us immediately and provided an estimate the next day. We had absolutely great service. Abe is polite, dependable, pleasant and very professional. We were completly satisfied with the timeliness, quality and price of his service. We will definetly use him again.

Abe came to provide an estimate the day after being contacted, and performed the job the very next day. He was respectful, professional, courteous, and efficient. He gave an estimate for another job while there - Yes, we were so pleased with his work that we inquired about another handyman job that we needed to have done before he left.

I was impressed and would use Honest Abe's again. Would recommend him to anyone!

Abe is very polite and very accommodating. He was very busy, but squeezed me in because he felt a leak should be fixed as soon as possible. Prior to this job, he saved me money when he came to my house to look at humming pipes and gave me a recommendation as to how I might fix the problem myself. He didn't even charge for the visit. I have a few other things needing attention around the house and I will definitely call Honest Abe in future.
