"Our design firm was to faux finish a large room for this particular client. During our initial visit to view the space, we noticed that the home had never been professionally painted; it was the standard primer or “builder’s white” over the drywall. Only after we did the faux finish treatment were there apparent flaws in the drywall. You can see even from the client’s photos that it is obvious patchwork, clearly not the result of our faux finisher. However, we offered to have the drywall patched, sanded, and repaired at a very reasonable price but the client refused. Regarding the dining table, unfortunately it seems to be a very simple explanation of buyer’s remorse. The table is naturally distressed by the manufacturer. All manufacturer photos, as well as finish samples, were provided to the client prior to purchasing. After the table arrived in their home, they did not like the distressed wood and asked us to refinish the top at our expense. A week later the client asked us to visit to inspect the table. Upon our arrival, it became very apparent that the table was wiped with some kind of abrasive cleaner or product and the finish, as evident in their photos, had been removed. Full instructions were given to the client regarding the care and maintenance of the table upon purchasing.
