Xced Builders

We had a great experience with Gary.  In short, Gary genuinely cares about the people with whom he works and goes the extra step for his clients. 
When he came to meet us for the first time, he was extremely thorough in his assessment of our options and what it would take to get the job done.  My wife and I were both impressed when Gary started sending us Craigslist links to purchase the doors we needed at a cheap price - although he offered to arrange for the French doors to be built/purchased through him, he was also looking to help us save money on the project wherever we could. 
The installation of the door did not go as smoothly as planned, due to some uneven walls in our town home.  Whenever the project hit a snag, Gary was honest and professional with us about the issues.  He had to come back several times, always on short notice because of my wife's and my busy schedules. 
Perhaps our most memorable and telling experience with Gary had nothing to do with the French door project.  My wife and I were traveling over the holidays while inlaws watched the house.  At around 2:00pm on December 24th, we got a frantic call from the inlaws informing us that there was a severe water leak through the kitchen ceiling.  Panicked, and about 450 miles away from the problem, we called Gary to see whether he could refer us to an emergency plumber to stem the leak.  Gary offered to inspect the leak himself, and drove over to our house within hours.  Fortuntately, the issue was easily fixed, but the fact that Gary was willing to help us out of a pinch entirely unrelated to our project meant a lot to us.
Gary and his team recently finished up the French door project and it looks fantastic.  He and his team are highly competent and we would definitely recommend Xced.

The work turned our very good.

They did a pretty high end bathroom. They did a great job! He was really easy to work with, responsive, and was great at comminication. He also did a good job managing his contractors.

He completed the work in our building that has very strict building restrictions on the hours they can work and how much noise they can make and much more.  He worked very well with them. We were very happy with the work that he did.

Throughout the entire process, Gary and his crew were incredibly helpful and professional.  It took them a few days to get out to do the work but that was mainly because Gary was on vacation (everyone deserves one of those!) when I first contacted him.  Once he got back into town, he was very responsive and helped us by coordinating with the plumber who had to fix the leak.  They were also very helpful in finding additional supply of the existing tile.  Gary came highly recommended by the plumber so I did not shop around on price.  The ultimate cost appeared to be a little on the high side, however, as I don't have anything to compare it to, I can be certain.  I would gladly hire Xced Builders again for any construction-type project.

We have granite countertops and behind the sink, the grouting had begun to wear. A large crack stretched the entire length across. He sent one of his men over, and stopped by himself too, just to make sure everything was going well. I had actually picked out a grout color that I thought would match. Fortunately, Gary corrected my decision and picked the exact right one. The job was done perfectly. You can't even tell it's not the original grout. At the same time, Gary and his team also did our shower, which needed new grout and to have the stone tiles resealed. They did a lovely job and timely. It was all done in a day. Furthermore, no new stains have accumulated due to the resealing.
Gary and his team also redid our front steps to our condo and parts of the pathway around our building. It was the hottest summer ever, and the first day, his men fell ill. It might sound strange, but it was over 100 degrees. So I'm not surprised. Needless to say, the job took longer than planned, but Gary was in constant contact giving me updates so I could relay the progress to the rest of the tenants. And he finished it as quickly as he could. Net net, the steps are awesome. We can walk up and down easily and they look great. Even better, he was extremely reasonable in his pricing. Everyone else I got a bid from was much more.
I think Xced Builders is true to their name: they are excellent! And if I have any other future repairs/needs, I won't hesitate to call them.

It went great. The tile work was a small job but the detail was, as the name implies, impeccable. 
The roof job was a brutal one. Gary and his guys worked from early in the morning until 10 pm to get the roof off. By the time the roof was disposed of and the yard and alley were cleaned up, it was nearly midnight. They worked over the weekend to get the plywood over the house, including late into a Saturday night. The new roof was scheduled for installation on Tuesday. Because it was scheduled to rain, Gary and his guys tarped everything. Even thought it was well covered, I was surprised to see Gary there on Sunday-turns out he was a little concerned since it was raining and he just wanted to make sure everything was good with the tarp! 
I appreciate the fact that Gary was almost always reachable, he kept me very well informed on progress, and took the time to explain why they were doing things in a certain way. A lot of General Contractors have never even had a hammer in their hands,and have limited real world knowledge of the hows and whys of home remodeling-not the case here. Gary and his crew were less concerned about leaving the job after an 8 hour day than they were with getting things done and done properly. I felt that even if I were out of town, I could have handed Gary my keys and the work would have been done in the same manner.

Excellent. The job took about a week and involved a complete roof replacement, masonry, wood replacement, and drywall work. They worked straight through-working on a Saturday night until they couldn't see any more because it was dark. It was obvious that Gary Dayan put quality and customer satisfaction above finishing a normal work day. He even stopped by on a Sunday because it was raining and he wanted to make sure there were no leaks! I've since had Gary do a complete bathroom re-tile job, and his tile work was perfection. He even managed to put my 18 year old stepson to work helping to take the old tile down-quite impressive. Very happy and highly recommended.

They did an amazing job. My husband and I still look at the fireplace and discuss how much we love the transformation. Xced really exceeded - sorry for the pun - our expectations. They were recommended by The Tile Gallery along with a few other contractors. Gary was great to work with and even followed up with me when neglected to follow up with him! We interviewed a couple of them and felt that they gave the most comprehensive scope of work and actually were enthusiastic to do the work. Our fireplace went from blah to wow! Definitely worth the money.

Gary was expensive, but we knew that going in. We wanted a good job done and were willing to pay for it. Comparable quotes were much less, but he was referred to me as a great tile installed. What I now know is that Gary just sub contracts all of his work ou.t

Overall and in all ways the job was disaster, much do to Gary's lack of supervision. He made very infrequent trips to the job site.
Without getting into a long story, the subs made a terrible mistake and have to remove and regrout the job. While I understand mistakes happen, Gary was a nightmare to deal with. When he did come to the site he was so aggressive and confrontational that we asked that he not return and just dealt with his subs. In the end, we got an attorney involved and ended up paying Gary more to have his subs correct the job so we could move on.

While the quality could have been good, the potential for disaster with Gary is just not worth it.

It was a great experience. They were neat and did exactly what they said they would do. They perform meticulous work with attention to detail.
